Angry Bloody waste of my time. Inept police and the courts

Back in april I had a lorry scrab my scoob whilst I was parked up in a petrol station. Found out when I got home and even though I had his regestration number, because there was no cctv at the forecourt and they denied it, they got away with it and I had to fork out for the repairs

So this saturday I get through the post a court summons
Open it up to find the local police have sent through some papers and now the courts are summoning me to appear in a few weeks time for .................

" Driving a motor vehicle without a valid driving license"

I just couldnt believe it when I read it and then when I looked at the dates I realised that they were related to my producer. I did produce my insurance and driving license details a few days after the accident. So went down to the station and queried it. It seems they cant find a record of me producing my documents and so are taking me to court

Then the final clincher. They have my date of birth on the forms as 1987
Now whilst I would love to be 21 again, since my license was issued in 1984, that would mean I had a valid driving license 3 YEARS BEFORE I WAS BORN

Some bloody numptie has written down my details wrong and they havent even bothered to check with the DVLA that I was legal to drive...so whooptie ****ing doo, they wait until now to take me to court, spend all that time and effort to chase me the victim and now I have to try and sort it out myself, whilst the ****ing idiots who caused the accident get away scot free.

Bloody livid is not the word for it, but hey, what else can you expect from this screwed up country

SwissTony thinks sal needs a super nova wedgie

Appear in court.

Tell the judge what happened.

Point out the errors made by the police/cps on the forms.

Stand back and watch the judge give the police/cps a bollocking.

Apply for your costs to be paid by them as well.

Sorted!

That really is unbelievable. As you say, this is what they think you should accept now.

If you can say in court what you have posted above with confidence then I'm quite sure things will be sorted for you. Hope they are

I'd be livid too.
Touch in with the duty solicitor when you get to court, I bet you don't even have to go in and give evidence. Just take the relevant papers with you, then sit back and wait for costs. (Loss of earnings etc...)

As above, but minus the cps bit.

They have nothing to do with low end traffic prosecution as it has come from a civilian processor.

Liklehood is that the station officer at the police station you provided the info to has baffed up the forms.

The police still think i'm someone else entirely. There is a warrant out for my arrest and they have been round to my parents house looking for me....where i haven't lived for 9 years - good detective work there.

I've been to court twice over it and produced passport, birth certificate etc but they're still after me.

Well done police.

You need to get that sorted. It may bite you on the ass when you least expect/need it.

No detective work used as it's not a serious matter, therefore no time invested in sorting it.

It's all down to systems and lack of updates when checks are done.

Yes there is. You are probably shown as wanted on the PNC.

This will hurt you at some point. Usually when pissed on a Friday night with the lads, and meaing you spend 3 days locked up for court on Monday.

Seen it soooooooooooo many times.

I've spent many hours trying to sort it...letters, phone calls, going down police station, going to magistrates offices, going to magistrates court etc.

Basically they have mixed up my pnc record with another mans with the same surname as me and a DOB 10 days later. Basic data entry error.

Now they just cannot sort it.

Pathetic. I carry previous mentioned ID around at all times now just in case.

Yeah, that's happened already, only locked in cell for couple of hours though at least as it was in the week.

Showed them all paperwork, the custody seargant agreed i was not he but said there was nothing he could do other than apologise and let me go.

You need to get a 'not identical to............' marker put on PNC. That will sort out your issues, and is free and carried out quickly if you ask for it and prove who you are.

Citizens' Advice have info on this.

Police appreciate how sh1t pnc is. A 40 yr old system that is rigid and frankly crap.

Problem is they have added all my info onto this guys record on the pnc rather than opening a new record when i was originally arrested. They put in my surname and mis-typed my DOB and ended up with this chaps record that then became mine to. So his record now has all my picture, prints, details etc on it and i've got his pre-cons. Meanwhile he is still in Scotland breaking the law and getting even more stuff added onto (our) record.

This totally confused the police somehow and they have admitted they have no idea how to seperate us now or even prove who did what

It's down to the system, not the people that use it.

Again, rubbish tools given to the police.

PNC was bought from BA in the 1960s - they used it as booking software for flights when flying was a luxury, yet it is still used to record the details of EVERY encounter EVERYONE has with police, along with driver details, car details etc etc etc.....................

A joke, but it does work when inputting is good. Shame the inputters are often poor.
