What GC8 said. I've had three of these in the past year, from super market car parks and after a short return letter nothing further has ever happened.

This is what I always put in my correspondence and it's worked every time.

Dear Sirs,

Re: Your letter dated [dd/mmmm/yyyy] Reference[#]

I acknowledge receipt of your captioned letter. It seems that you have got my details from the DVLA and I confirm I am the keeper of the vehicle in question. You need to take this matter up with the driver concerned.

In the meantime I absolutely deny your claim that the amount claimed, or any amount at all, is due to you from me.

Yours faithfully

PePiPoo: Helping the motorist to get justice

You will find that they're not worth the paper they're printed on.

One of the most important things is to not react to any letter they have sent. Alll this does is confirm you have recieved the letter and you are the owner. They don't send them recorded so if it did go to court, you can deny any correspondance.

They have had this at Gatwick airport for 3 years now. Got 3 fines in 2 days so complained to BP. Telling them it will cost them a fuel account of about 6k per month soon got the parking company off my back.

Go back and look at the signs. When they were originally installed at Gatwick, they were too small according to the companies guidelines. Most places have inadequate or missing/hidden signage.

Ignoring things wont make it go away. The next stage from experience is solicitors letters and then court.

Replying as stated make things much easier.

I had one from Halford's car park.
On the way out I screwed up the ticket and lobbed it at the attendant (my bad, litter I know but I was livid).
Despite his speech about court etc I never heard a thing about it.

Is there a list of which stores are taking part in this?

Take who to court? Nothing can come of it.

I tend to agree - especially if they then may sell the alleged 'debt' to an even dodgier debt collection agency.

My car recently got ticketed outside A&E at 2am. My daughter was blue in the lips FFS and being rushed in. The vehicle was parked neatly with the other non emergency vehicles there, in the (as it was the early hours) 90% empty bays provided for A&E staff. It was ticketed within 30 mins, at this time of night The vehicle was moved into a pay bay at 6am as my daughter was better (but she remained there for 9 days).

I did write suggesting they contact the vehicle driver for this emergency mission who they assume to have some form of contract with them - especially if that aligned with their morals/NHS contract longevity.

Having got my back up somethig royal and refusing to even remotely deal with the issue face to face on site ('what did you think I was doing at 2am mate outside A&E - Xmas shopping in F'in House of Fraser?????') then you can understand a man considering delighting in the wonders of scanners & Photoshop for the tickets needed for daily visits and expensive overnight parking. Robin Hood may still be here in spirit!!!

One ticket from a BRail car park was ignored though - they allege the driver straddled a bay,and that this is worth £50. He/She did not! They parked a foot from the nearest car door FFS. The scammers got the reg wrong on the ticket, but still managed to get the reg keeper's info from the scummy DVLA Was looking forward to show the wrong ticket in court and cost them a few hundred quid in costs - but of course they nevergave me the chance

You DO NOT have to pay them, unless sit is local authority/council. Bluffers, blaggers, liars and cheats the lot of 'em!

Thank you (better now).

It'll never happen like that. One or two letters then a "solicitors" letter with nothing further. It would get laughed out of court if they ever dared take it that far, which they don't.

My 2 tickets referenced above - first one, they sent me 3 letters one of which was from a "solicitor", heard nothing further. Second one, they didn't even bother to write to me at all!

Don't ignore the LAs however always challenge the ticket. Again 99% of people just pay up so the 1% that challenge can get orf fairly easily. I've had 2 LA tickets, both went to Adjudicator as the LA Scum basically ignored my appeal - Adjudicator threw both out.

Pepipoo website is best place for advice.

TX.

PS

Adjudicator costs nothing, it's all part of the Road Traffic Act.
