Where did you see them? They flew over my house 2 days ago barrel rolling as they went. Saw them briefly down over Broadstairs a few weeks back as they were at RAF Manston for the day. I would love to have gone to Biggin Hill last weekend but wasn't able to. Would like to take the kids to see them at some point.

Saw them last weekend at Biggin and let's just say they weren't at their best. Nothing a bit of practice hasn't put right by the sounds of it

i was at Goodwood yesterday as well - by sheer fluke i managed to watch them from the near the hospitality area by the start of the hillclimb (pretty much as close as you could get - just where i happened to be when they came over).

absolutely awesome - seen them before but this was way better, and their display seemed to go on forever

top drawer stuff

Never yet seen another team to beat them for their precision and the quality of their display.

I have got a fair number of flying hours in the Vampire Mart. It was known as the "clockwork mouse". Quite a few aircraft have earned that name, the Jet Provost for a start!

It was quite a site, almost surreal, the way this "old" jet just went past, no fuss, just a very smooth very low pass!!

Just a thought? are there any other jets with the same tail configuration? (just in case it wasnt the Vampire (lol).. although i,m pretty sure it was

Just watched the eurofighter doing its bit, looked impressive, but he kept his turns very tight, so he stayed well goodwood bound

Just checked the calander, according to the FOS timetable,
The reds are there

Tommorow 11:30 & 15:30 ??

But the best news is

Revival 2009 .......XH558 confirmed....

time to get some tickets

It was quite a nice machine to fly Mart if a bit gutless after the T33 which we trained on in Canada. It could manage a loop at 30K, just, which was a bit unusual.

It had one little trick, if you wound it up to flat out the controls would reverse when you pulled any G because the booms would distort. This happened to me when I was trying to pull up vertically to do a roll going up. When I pulled back the nose went down which was a bit unfair since I was not all that high. Luckily I did the reverse and pushed and the nose came back up again!

I mentioned it to my flying instructor after landing and he said the equivalent of " They all do that" as if I should have known! He could have said so beforehand.

I remember the DH110 flown by John Derry which disintegrated at Farnborough killing a lot of people. I was there at the time and it was a bit terrifying for a young lad. That had the twin boom tailplane and so did the Sea Vixen which was a naval fighter. It was a two seater and the observer sat behind and to the right of the pilot. It was probably a development of the DH 110.

I was wondering what caused them to crash. Did they collide in formation flying?

Best place to watch the Arrows is Dartmouth in August. They fly through the valley barely feet above the water. Apparently they like to show off in front of all the Navy guys from the college.
