I haven't done the detailed maths, but a 40 pound ingot of gold would only be a few inches square (er, cube), which whilst undoubtedly somewhat expensive would need to be sliced quite thinly to cover an entire car.
Thus the description should be "in Russia they drive in waffer theen gold covered Porsche cars." (cue Mr Creosote )

Gold leaf I'm guessing - but Why ??
Vinyl wrap would surely be better - unless he is taking the insualtion properties of gold to the next level ?

Looks like each plate is screwed into the car (although that could be for effect). However, I do wonder how fast you can go without any of it coming off
