Almost certainly he did. The honesty of his son has landed this coniving little twerp right in it.
I saw on the news that the boy had been hiding in an attic room above the garage. But I noticed in the shots of the garage on TV there was no ladder or steps anywhere in sight so wondered how a six year old boy managed to get up there.
I doubt they will ever be able to pay back fully the cost of the emergency services and selling their house will come nowhere near to it.

I noticed the same with the garage too. Also the fact that police "searched" the house twice during the time they were chasing the balloon, means that a couple of cops are in trouble for a bit of a lame search.

Even if they cant cover ALL the costs, covering as much as they can would help. Parents should not need the house as they deserve to be locked up, and the kids will be in care, so sell the house I say

I like the list of charges being pressed. Some large penalties to pay. Not sure how they will defend themselves with so much being broadcast about them and of them.

Oh some greaseball lawyer will get involved and come up with some trumped up reason as to why they did it. It'll be something like a disease or a disorder that compels them to need tv coverage to survive, and denying them this would be cruel, blah, blah, blah.

It's a media stunt that has backfired in a very big way on them and they will now pay the price, hopefully literally, for this.

If the police had not laid charges then I would not be too shocked if there was (or could still be) a civil suit from an individual or individuals who missed flights or were delayed because of a re-route or grounding of aircraft due to this stunt.
