We went to Brum on Saturday night and my mate turned up at my door with his snow shovel (just in case) oh how I laughed!
Oh how he laughed when 2 hours later we were using it to dig our selves off the m42!
Glad he brought it with him now!

Still amazes me how they know it is coming and roughly how much it'll be, but it still catches the council out. There has been what I'd say severe snow for the past couple of years, last years being particularly bad, so you would have thought a bit more preparation would be in order.
Is it lack of foresight, money, or both? I'd say that from now on the UK will see lots of snow, and so it's time to actually put out an initial outlay in equipment that can clear this stuff.
We still get the morons who think winter tyres make them invincible, always nice to see them in the ditch when five minutes earlier they were blasting past you.

My kids thought the Dog **** shovel was appropriate for moving compacted snow, it is designed to move the output of one small Poodle/Terrier which is minimal, hence why its in two bits on the drive.
No joke...my fortune cookie said "You will fall in love"
But that wasn't the date - it was a belated Chinese New Years family bash that was organised last year* (they were a week late due to restaurant owners accidentally booking the place out for a party). Spent it sober as I was driving because the Taxis had bottled it.
Having the only AWD car in our group does have its drawbacks
*I'm not Chinese. BTW, we just made it a good excuse to have a post Crimbo get together.

What I find brilliant is heathrow had plenty of notice so instead of getting people in to tackle it and keep it running they just say "nah all flights are cancelled Sunday" it's laughable

It is unbelievable, but they probably did a 'risk analysis' and decided to just cancel a load of flights rather than risk embarrassing queues, tents, people fainting, chaos etc.
Does beg the question of how much they invested in snow clearing equipment after the assurances of last year. I bet bugger all!

Its typical of these people trying to be helpful.
They invariably forget the last and most important part of the whole explanation!
