Im with British Gas "Online Saver 4" tariff and submit a meter reading every month as a) means they dont use an estimated reading to bill me and b) I get nectar points each time.
From Jan 4th to Feb 4th (so 1 month) it was £96 for an 8yr old 3 bed semi. Water on an hour every morning and evening (with the odd hour when guests over using shower etc) and heating on 2hrs in the morning and about 6 in the evening weekdays. Weekends left on "all day" mode but usually knock the thermostat down to about 19c.
Just curious as to what others spend for similar usage?
my last gas bill was £160 for the quarter which seemed reasonable.
I got a letter from the NIE saying they were increasing my Direct Debit payment from £50pm to £83pm, don't owe them anything and don't understand it other than them being greedy ****ers. Considering I've always previously had a Prepay card for my electric and it never cost me over £40, I really can't get my head around it.

Would you say a similar usage through the week? Admittedly Ive forgotten the mrs works 1-2 days at home during the week and she is always cold so prob has the heating on "all day" mode as well (ie between timers first on and last off).
I got rid of British gas, in fact i got rid of the gas full stop
Ripped it all out 3 years ago, put in an open fire fitted with a back boiler to heat all the radiators in the house.
uses broken pallets from work or logs when i can get them, cost me nothing apart from my time collecting the pallets and cutting them into a manageable size for the fire.
never looked back
Does create a bit of dust, and bit of a pain sometimes to clean it all out, but no gas anymore

Think that's a common tactic.. British Gas always try and increase my DD payments, despite my fuel use being the same or less. Usually ring them up and tell them not to do it ( which I can under the DD arrangement I have with them )..

Yup , we leave at 7:30am heating goes off then, get back at 5 and set heating to 20 at 4:30.
middle town house, 12 yrs old with new combi boiler, mrs has been home since jan 1st on maternity,
last bill was aug, when i checked we hadnt been billed but were £450 in credit, gave new readings and still had £80 left lol,
we have a stand by saver on the tv/dvd/ps3/sky and energy saving bulbs, so do pretty good really, with edf, who were on of the cheapest.
have the heating set on timer, so that in the morning it comes on for a hr 6:30 -7:30am, then it comes on at 5-8pm in the evenings, over ride it if were cold, upstairs is always roasting tbf

When we moved here seven years ago ( 3bed semi ) we were with N-Power, after asking a few questions they estimated that we should pay £80 a month for gas and electric, after a few months we owed a decent sum so I contacted them to higher my monthly payment, Only to be assured that my bill would "level out". This went on for quite some time, I phoned them on numerous occasions to be told it would "level out". then after a couple of years I recieved a letter stating that I owed them £650 and it must be paid immediately! After I mad a few phonecalls with no help whatsoever I ended up paying them the money and moved to Eon, They estimated £80 I said I wanted to pay £135 per month. After a few years they sent a letter stating that my DD was increasing to £172, I phoned and said that I was in credit so there was no need to up my payments They didnt up it and as of my last bill I was £410 in credit

Gas around £90 pm and I still think house is too cold. But both in all day. House is old stone end-of-terrace which glows in the dark. What Estae Agents would call "modest" size and wife calls sweet and cosy. I call too bloody small
I budget £60 a month for both and it just about covers it over a year.
2 bed semi extended to 4 6 years old.
Its on two hours in the morning and two at night with a couple of hours extended if im in.

£105 for both electricity and gas. Has gone up slightly but very handy paying the same amount each month because the money stacks up in summer so when you use more heat in winter it just gets taken from the pool of money.
Again just like Chocolate - O - brian i live in a 1930's 3 bed semi with solid walls which is a real pain. A lot of heat escapes from these types of walls so more energy used.

Immersion Heater, bloke who installed it all for me said " never turn your immersion off it's the best way to run them"
So it's been on for 3 years, was initially dubious myself, thought it would cost a fortune, but we have a pre-payment meter for the electric, and have never put more than £20 a week in it
