Default Take a bow network rail.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-16901587

Quote:
Network Rail bosses, including chief executive Sir David Higgins, have said they will not accept bonuses this year.

They had come under growing political pressure to waive the potential six-figure awards.

Sir David, who was eligible for a bonus of up to £340,000, said in a statement that they would be donating the money to a rail safety charity.

The government said Network Rail had "recognised the strength of public opinion" over the issue.

Oh dear, I hope public pressure doesn't cause me to have to give my bonus away to some **** charity like the TV Licence man.

Bonus? What's a bonus?

You do a job, you get paid.

The only way ANYONE should get a bonus is if his company makes a huge profit, and then EVERYONE should have a share.

This idea of negotiating a salary then expecting bonuses to push it up is just dishonesty.

Bonuses are a reward for exceeding targets and expectations set by the company you work for. They aren't meant to be mandatory or expected that you will get them.

If they have improved the company through the working practises they've done or put in place then I think they should have a bonus of some sort BUT in no way should be anyway near their annual salary in one lump sum. The bonuses I get are very small in comparison to what I earn and I have to work bloody hard for them. That's how it should be for all no matter where you are on the company ladder.

Why else did the boy David announce his so-called benefit capping idea on the same day as the head of RBS was due to get his bonus announced?

The Tories are happy for the bankers to get bonuses, after all, it will be the bankers who bankroll them for ther next election, and anyone who loses his job, or resigns, will get a nice directorship.

And someone tell me that isn't unhealthy for the country?

All they are interested in is filling each others' wallets.

What does a CEO do that warrants that amount of money??

I could be the CEO of RBS, or any other blue chip company...

I wouldn't cost a tenth of what they earn, let alone what they rack up in bonuses

But i'm dammed sure i could do what they do, day in day out

The whole nation seems to have missed the fact that such a huge sum given to charity gives him a massive tax break. This is why he didn't refuse the bonus and did the charity route..
