Default Anyone watched "The Hotel" on Channel 4?

We caught this a week or 2 when channel hoping on a sunday night. Follows a small hotel (the Grosvenor) in Torquay. First time we watched it we had a right laugh as 2 old pervy welsh boys staying there were comical.

Watched it again last night and just makes you wince at the state of british Tourism. Most of the staff (fat admin bird who does nothing, student barman who is never at the bar away pulling hotel guests etc) are just bone idle and lazy. But kept alive by british guests who keep going back year after year and then sit there moaning about everything? Most of them have probably never been abroad in their lives.

The wife got me into this one, I find it funny. The last series was worse, drunk staff, poor service but a decent manager who always found the right thing to do.

Sounds rather typical. I dunno who the fark would want to go to Torquay on holiday anyway. Old British seaside hotels/B&B etc are invariably utter ****e.

He's on twitter, his staff had book 246 people for Sunday carvery their eating area only holds 48

I think it's a brilliant show. I love it when C4 does shows like this.

Coppers, bouncers are great watches too

Loved the first series, was a real gem of a programme.
Tried to get into this series but none of the people are really that likeable.

He as in the manager/owner? He seems to have his head screwed on and some passion but for the most part has a bunch of misfit slackers working for him. I cant believe he lets his staff hang out the front or by the pool smoking all the time. In fact he does it himself. Definetly needs to be more of an authority figure instead of being nicey nicey to them all.

Yep have to say she would be one off the first off many to get the chop within the first ten minutes, she is a disgrace and I have to say that despite his lack off authority to his staff I think the guy is a top bloke and would personally enjoy working for him, His lack off authority is obviously his major down fall in his business career . possibly like so many very highly edited to show the very best / very worst off the staff working there but I still get the impression that 99% off his staff are a joke who don't deserve the job they have.

Lol I said to the mrs it looks about 4 sizes too small. When she is sat down in it the shoulders ride up to the height of her ears.

You could always ask the thousands who do take holidays in Torquay why they do it!

Have you ever been there?

What he said ^^^

The Hotel Inspector is another great series as is Country House Rescue - both presenters have really good people skills but its the characters that are featured that make the programs so entertaining.
