There is, its called fuel economy & wet braking!

Summer tyres are generally rated from A - C

A - being the most fuel eficient, C not efficient. F being very unneficient etc

If your unlucky and run some larger sizes or 4X4,

this can drop to E or even G

All season tyres if your lucky are from C- F!

but there is a trade off on wet grip, with E rating being quite common!

I'm afraid I only put about 1500 miles on them before trading the Forester in for Forester number 3, so it was goodbye to the Cross climates and hello to the scary Bridgestone Duellers.
The cross climates felt great in standing water but they never saw more than some frost and ice. The one real negative was a drone on smooth wet roads. Car was perfectly quiet otherwise but there seemed to be a lot more noise than the claimed decibels ! This was also moticed by Steve from SW motorsports, before I even mentioned noise.

The duellers on the new Forester coped perfectly well with the little snow they saw but I think it was more down to the x mode. Now changed for Nokian WRG3 SUVs which have been as good as I'd expect from Nokian.

I do the maths (litres filled up vs mileage driven) on every tank I fill up without fail. My current Vredstein summers are F rated for efficiency and my previous Bridgestones were C rated. I was doing 30k miles a year so as you can imagine, I have done plenty of fill ups (BMW 330d). There wasn't any notable difference in mpg at all which is also true of my E rated winters.

The new all season tyres from Michelin (Cross Climate) and Nokian (Weatherproof) have an A rating for wet grip, and C for economy.

I have Continental Wintercontact TS860 undwer my BMW. Excellent winter tyres apparently but all over the place when giving it some beans in the dry.

Just bought a set of Falken Eurowinter hs 449 or something like that, seem pretty decent now I've scrubbed them in, off to read some reviews to see what other people make of them.
