It's that time again The monthly meet, and a chance to meet up and speak in person with people from the land of internet.
However, a dark cloud is looming (or is it just me!)
Costs! Cost of petrol, insurance, tax!, servicing, living, shopping, drinking and smoking are all on the up and up
As a performance car based club, how long can we go on before all we ever do is meet online in a virtual carpark
I was in the process of planning a weekend trip to southern Scotland over the easter break, and had a lovely route planned all through the Yorkshire Dales, through Cumbria (al la "raid across the border 2004 andy ) then on into the Dumfries region for an overnight b&b stop. The next day would then be spent hooning around that area and Kielder Reservoir and eventually home. No problem, until I got to sorting out the petrol cost! I figured on at least 5 tanks of juice to get us there and back, with the hoonage in-between. Which at todays prices works out at £330 for petrol alone (5 tanks of 60 litres @ £1.10 per litre) Factor in the B&B, food, drink and sundries, and we'd be looking at close to £500 for a 1 night stay in Scotland!
So, we're going to Wales instead Watch this space.
