Dose anyone know if you can get a gas conversion for an RS4 Im thinking of getting one but I dont want the petrol bill because I do a lot of miles:wonder:

Can see where you are coming from but I personally wouldn't want to alter a car like that and have and grotty looking external fuel cap. I think it can be made to work but given that more people are going to LPG and it may get clobbered at some point I dont think its that great an idea for a car like that.

I would think if it were me that if I had to consider fuel costs when buying a car like that, I may as well buy something that does more than 15/20 mpg.

I feel that we are all looking for ways to keep performance motoring cheap, I dont think there is one, I am just going to admit defeat and save some money by cycling and I might chop my Saab in for a new Fiat 500 as the wife wants one, I only do between 30 and 70 miles a week and its country lanes, I dont use the performance as I just end up doing silly speeds down country lanes.

It takes about 25000/30000 miles to pay back on a gas conversion, anything after that and it works out cheaper for you.

Dont do that to an RS4.

If you want an RS4, buy one and use it on weekends. Buy a sh*tbox for the daily drive.

No one will buy a LPG RS4 off you when you come to sell.
Some cars are just not for converting, ie. Performance cars. Goes against why you buy a performance car in the first place.

Not all engines are comfortable with conversions either. My old man had a Ford Explorer 4.0 V8 years ago. Converted to LPG, and within 1.5 years it was knackered. Always in the dealer having things go wrong with the engine. Put him off for life converting any car to LPG.

Keep the RS4 and get a diesel shed, or chop it in for a 335D SE M-Sport (faster than an M3 through the gears I'm told and averages 35+mpg even driven quite hard).

There isn't room for a spare tyre in my RS4, let alone another gas tank!

I'm not aware that you can get LPG conversions for the FSi engines yet, well not the V8's. Pretty sure one company is playing around with a system for the VW/Audi 4 pot, but there does not appear to be anything generally available yet.

Whitout statinging the obvious it depends on how i drive it.

I got to London and back on 29.9mpg at a constant speed which i can't remember right now but was more than happy with;) (it was late at night with clear roads mind)

If i nail it instant mpg can go to low 10's.

Will return 23mpg round town quite comfortably. All in all equal if not better to my old STI.

I can't stop thinking about a GT-R so could possibly be pursuaded to sell mine;)
