Well guess this is a theoretical question as the R20 and the RS3 are not out yet, but from a desirable / long term prospect / residuals then I think it would be one of the german pair.

RS3 will be £35k+ with Options. 300-340BHP depends if they detune it.

R20 will be VW Audi S3. Very nice though. And owning a Golf now, I can see the desirability of a AWD 2.0T Golf. £30k with Options

Focus RS. Probably fastest out of all of them once rolling. £25k upto £27k fully loaded. Plus Ford Warranty backed Tuning kit soon available.

STI330. Look sh1t.

Ford, VW & Audi will hold value well. Maybe the Ford being best due to low volume and possible the last ever RS.

The Subaru will lose half it's value within 12 months.

Ford is the best value and maybe the quickest.
Audi will be very nice, fast but maybe overpriced.
R20 will be the best all round option. Not too expensive. Decent mpg compared to the RS & RS3, anbd will make a very nice every day car. Just not as desirable as the Ford & Audi.

I'd go for the Ford.

RS3, R20, 330S and RS last.

If they made the RS in black, it would be higher up in the list without a doubt!

RS without a doubt, its the only one you wont loose a fortune on and the RS3 will probbaly cost 5k more new.
anyone got a spare 120k lying about and we can buy all these cars and see which one is best? now that would fun!

RS out of that bunch for sure.

I am looking at a new car for April 2010, have had a good look at the Focus RS, but i think i want to get away from that badboy hothatch look. Seriously looking at the new TT RS if it's on the right side of £40k when it's released. Map it and it will be on the back doors of it's bigger brother the R8.

Have thought about that.

If there is enough room to pull a few more PS out of it, then it is going to be a missile!

Yes.

And by the time you've specced it up, you'll be looking at £50k+

Roadster starts at £46k

I'd say a specced up RS3 will be £40K+

I reckon that the ford will not hold its value like the previous car as they plan to build at least 10x the amount apparently.

No. Henry Ford said you can have a Model T in any colour as long as it was Black. So not selling the latest Super-Ford in Black would not meet his approval!

It is, yes. But poor design work on behalf of Subaru has turned once loyal impreza fans away from the marque.

And cars like the Golf R20, Focus RS, RS3 etc, are on peoples shopping list rather than buying another Impreza.

Better designed, better built, and just as quick, if not quicker.

Spot on! That's why I have an RS on order. Only thing that worries me is dealing with Ford, I always found Subaru's customer service second to none for over 13 years.

Have you got a delivery date yet for your RS?

I know production has been slowed by Ford which includes RS production. I know a few people (Via FRS owners club) that have had delivery dates put back several times.

Still debating about getting an RS. Really want to see how they put the power down on damp / wet roads first. If I go for one, I'll order about Christmas time for spring delivery, hopefully.

If the Montune kit is 360bhp, is second gear full bore acceleration just going to be wheelspin? Wet or dry?

It's damn ugly and has been pretty universally panned by the motoring press. You'd have to be brave to shell out nearly £30k on a car that does well under 20mpg, has the emissions of a coal fuelled power station and doesn't even seem to be all that great.

Compared to the rest which are mostly desirable, have done well in tests and are mostly cheaper.

Subaru missed a trick by holding off on diesels for so long. They are now missing another by designing something so grim looking. I think Subaru UK's days are numbered.

All I keep getting told is 'It will come when it comes'! My dealer can't even get me a brochure.

I have been following a thread on RSOC and all the delivery dates seem to be pure speculation. Truth is I don't think anyone knows when there car will come.

Totally agree, I reserved judgment until i saw one in the flesh and when i did i still thought it looked s***!!!

It wouldnt be too bad if is was a razor sharp driving tool like a Megane R26 or Focus RS but it isn't, hot hatches have moved the goal posts and Subaru have gone wayyyy backwards (jump in a nice sorted Classic and you'll know what i mean)

Like you said Subaru have cocked up big time and its a shame
