Default Japspeed S15's 2009 Drift Cars

HI Guy's just thought we would share with you guy's on what we have been up for the 2009 drift season, we also sell lots of products for the Nissan Tuning market and are heavily involved in the drift scene. For the 2007 & 2008 season we used Nissan R33's and at Trax last year we wrote both cars of see here YouTube - BIG DRIFT CRASH !!!

So we had to start fresh and build two new cars for the 2009 season and we decided to go with the S15 and use the engines out of the Skylines as they were tried and tested producing 430BHP each

The build started last September and we only finished them last week
We will be competing in Both the British Drift Championship and the Pro Drift Series here in the UK and Irelnd.

Default Danny's Car

This was used in prodrift in 2008 and we bought it less engine as we had our trusted RB's to drop straight in. The car was also stripped down to the shell the same as the other car

Yes we decided to run both the cars with RB25's, couple of reasons one that we all ready had 2 perfectly good engines both producing 430BHP and the time scale we had to finish 2 cars was against us. The engines droped straight in and we used the Skyline subframe and had the gearbox mounts fabricated.

Ideally we would like to run 500+ but for this season we will just stick with the RB25's and see how we get on see what next year brings us

Completly ditched the standard wiring loom and had a full custom loom built and only used the orginal engine bay harness

Dash all in and we used AEM gauges and boost controller, just need finer adjustment to the gauges to let them sit further back in the dash.
Everything is on a switch as you can see with the switch panel

Custom made fuel tanks with baffled internals to stop any fuel surge

Dry cell battery

Back and to from the body shop, just dropping one of for the final paint and picking the other up for the engine and running gear to be fitted.

Both cars were completly finished the day before the event and considering them straight out the box, they worked very well. Massive thanks to Nathan and Andy for all their hard work and late nights Just a few tweeks needed for the day and considering Danny or Shane had not driven for 7 months and jumping straight in to a new machine they did quite well. BDC Rd1 we had some teething probs and after a few hours and tweeks they were running well and both performed much better on the Sunday, I was happy with there first outing and we just need to do a few suspension tweeks for the next round and fix the damage that was done with those track blocks as we bent a wheel and hub on Shanes car and a body kit on Dans car. They will all be ready and perfect at Rd2

Japspeed storm the BTCC

Last weekend at the Knockhill round of the British Touring Car Championship, Team Japspeed were on hand to showcase professional drifting to over 10,000 hardcore Motorsport fans as well as an extensive television audience on ITV4. Not content with winning Super Series events or claiming Magazine covers, Team Japspeed at Knockhill ranks as another major achievement on this teams 2009 calendar.
Whilst at Knockhill, drifters Shane Lynch and Danny Eyeles strapped in two BTCC Drivers Jonny Adam and Rob Collard of Team Airwaves BMW for a first hand experience of top level drifting.
Full Airwaves BMW Press Release after the jump……
Adam And Collard Get Sideways At Knockhill
Airwaves BMW drivers Jonny Adam and Rob Collard took a break from their preparations for the latest round of the MSA Touring Car Championship to get a taste of the Knockhill circuit from a different angle as they linked up with Team JapSpeed drift drivers Shane Lynch and Danny Eyles for a passenger ride.
Boyzone star Lynch and JapSpeed team mate Eyles are at the Scottish circuit to give a drifting demonstration today and were delighted to interrupt their practice session to give Adam and Collard a thrilling high-speed trip around the track. The Airwaves BMW drivers certainly got a unique perspective on the Scottish circuit as the Team JapSpeed duo showed their incredible skills drifting their cars sideways around the corners at speeds of over 100mph.

Collard compared notes with Lynch while Adam linked up with Team JapSpeed’s up-and-coming star Eyles, finishing the session with a side-by-side lap of the track to give them a real taste of the excitement of drifting.
Adam and Collard will be back in their own cars today aiming for BTCC glory after an outstanding qualifying performance which sees them occupying third and fifth place on the grid.

Airwaves BMW Team driver Jonny Adam said:
“That was mega. It is totally different to what we do. The way they approach the corners is amazing and they really use the whole width of the circuit. We were sideways for so much of the time I was constantly looking out of the side window. It does feel slightly out of control for the first couple of corners but when you get used to the feeling it’s amazing .”

Airwaves BMW Team driver Rob Collard said:
“That was a stunning experience. It is really great fun to go around the circuit like that. What these guys can do with the cars is absolutely awesome. The sliding is great fun but Shane had absolute control over the car.”
