Replacement Key for Ford KA

Since I've drawn a blank trying to find a decent forum for the KA, can Scoobynet come to the rescue.

Ford are quoting £150 for a replacement key, now I'm quite sure this is certain to be one of life's great rip offs, the chip has to be programmed on a computer.

So what's the score peeps, any short cuts ?

With any Ford I have had that required another "red" key I just contacted a local guy that does them.
IIRC I was approx £90 for 1 red key and 3 normal.

What trade is your local guy in, or shouldn't I ask :D
How much would it be for one "chipped" key, not bothered about the red master.

Good idea, was hoping that there was going to be cheap way out of this.

Is this any good? http://www.alarmremotes.co.uk/new_pa...tm#Ford%20keys

Prices from £25 + postage.

Not used them, so can't comment on service, etc.

Thanks Andy, that's a useful link. Unfortunately I only have one of the red insert transponder keys, they say it can only be done at the dealer :(

looks like it's time to bend over.
