Mobile speed vans.....
Hyperthetical question, if someone was driving above the speed limit along a dual carriageway and there was a mobile speed van parked on the opposite carriageway could that person be done for speeding? Do the camera's read across carriageways? :wonder:

Depends on the type of tax van lol, there are some that are multi directional. I had a bit of sweat on a while ago, having just fitted a boost guage and testing it out, only to find a helicopter on my a$$, just glad it was not accompanied by an awaiting car lol.

I made the mistake of ignoring a mobile camera van on the opposite carriageway in Surrey and was sent a court date through the post. Luckily the summons stated the wrong speed limit for the road i was on, so i got away with it on a technicality, as i would have received one hell of a ban and fine.
Was there not a human rights thing about cameras taking pictures of your face. |
If they point the gun at you then yes indefinately

I've searched the internet and it some sites say yes and some say no....Most peoples replies are "wait 14 days to see if you get a nip in the post"
|
Another one in Surrey, A24 heading out of Dorking has a camera van hidden alot that does both ways
|
I have not seen any of these vans. I have only seen the standard head on vans with one sad tw$t sitting in the back. Having a 5 knuckle shuffle about how many victims he's caught that day.

They can shoot you coming, or going and yes they CAN shoot you across a dual carriageway barrier.
You just have to wait and see. |

They may APPEAR to be, but if they are using laser, trust me, they CAN shoot you coming or going.

spot on!! i was travelling up a dual carriage way in my scoob doing 48mph(speed limit was 40mph)i saw the VAN on the other side and thought feck it he cant get me...3 days later i get a photo of my rear end..3 points and a 60 quid fine!!!!! (he was facing traffic coming down on his side)
Surely the camera must be up high to catch the other lane, on the opposite carriageway. |
Vans I have seen in Nottingham DEFINITELY shoot across dual carriageways.
We have a regular one near our QMC hospital that looks at a flyover and it is placed superbly to get those both towards it and on the other carriageway going away from it as the cars move up the flyover. |
