chears for the pointers lads. i just had a look and it seems your rite, i didnt think they were as cheap as that!!. will check first to see if its leaking from there, theres a panel under left head light that was wet other day perhaps the water is under pressure squirting from side of rad as tone said around that plastic pipe fitting mab turned brittle overtime. last scoob the top hose broke there so was easy to sort that one.

Guys, Subaru coolant conditioner = Radweld and is added whenever they change the coolant IIRC...

I refuse point-blank to believe that coolant conditioner is RadWeld. It's just not possible.
Conditioner is to stop corrosion. RadWeld is to bung up leaks. |

I've just had exactly the same issue last week rad weeping from the seal then find a crack, new rad was 125 fitted it on Sunday morning, I couldn't get conditioner at the time but may drop some in. Does anyone know what it actually is and what it does.
It's amazing what a failed rad does though for no reason, I find myself lifting the bonnet nearly every time I get out to check it. Just worried their is anothe cause, no oil in water or steam so should be all good. |

Well what you should do is go to a Subaru dealer and buy a bottle of their bespoke coolant conditioner and then go to Halfords and buy a small bottle of Holts Radweld and compare the two items.
You may be surprised. They MAY both have the same solvent/carrier...... |
I love the way the price of a new radiator halves every time somebody mentions it.

Mine was £64.

I wouldn't put that stuff in an engine as complicated as a subaru turbo charged engine. It could clog up vital cooling areas . If the rad is fookied, replace it with a new one.

Compare how? Unless I had both chemically analysed, it would tell me nowt.
They MAY both have the same solvent/carrier...... Now why didn't I think of that :wonder: |
