Thumbs up Fully Loaded TypeR - lots of extra's

PLEASE NOTE THAT I WILL NOT BE SPLITTING THE CAR FOR ANY PARTS, - IT GOES COMPLETE.

IF I HAD DECIDED TO SPLIT, AND AS I AM GETTING ANOTHER SCOOBY, - THEN THE PARTS I WOULD NOT KEEP MYSELF, WILL ALL HAVE LOCALS QUEUING UP FOR THEM, SO THERE IS NO POINT IN ASKING –
‘JUST IN CASE’.

I am also not looking for a cheaper Scooby, or other make of car in PX.
Sorry, but that’s just the way it is, - better to get it over and said now, rather than later.!

I have decided that 3years is long enough to own a car a will be moving on to a new age vehicle.

The 1998 Impreza version , Type R. 65,000 miles,

Looking for £12,000. A bargain, considering the parts.

General information.

Car was sold new by a Subaru dealer, as the P1 was delayed. Dealer Later lost their franchise.
Lots of money has been spent by the previous owners and I have the receipts, including original bill of sale, to prove it.

New UK refinements include:
Metal Unleaded petrol Filler reducer, Built in Rear Fog light, UK Sun Visors, UK Service Book & Handbook in UK Folder’ Subaru Tool kit and Full chassis Underseal (UK Spec) from new.
Private Number plate from first registration included in the sale.

A whole folder of receipts totalling nearly £50K, excluding services.

This exact car was the subject of the ‘Star Letter’ in the Performance Car Magazine that compared the Type R to the EV05. A copy comes with the car.
Air Con system was recently re-gassed and works a treat.

Car will be remapped on 5/3/05 by Bob Rawle, just to make sure everything is still working fine for new owners

Its actually a Version 4, hence the genuine V5/6 spoilers, covers and splitters.

I don't go in for copies!

Question Engine rebuild

I am getting PM questions about the engine rebuild.

When the car was new 97ron was the best petrol around and people probably did not know about using booster in JDM Cars. hence a lot of these engines let go big ends at 40K-odd miles.

Im assuming this one suffered the same fate (Cant say for sure), but the LINK was not fitted until around 35k, at which point the damage was probably done.

The engine rebuild was completed by the original Subaru dealer who sold the car, and used brand new STI parts from Japan, including a new Crank/Rod.
The cost was approximately £3400.00, excluding the 1000mile service, which I also have the receipt for.

A new high pressure oil pump was also fitted at the time of the rebuild.

Ill try and scan a copy of both invoices and post them.

Update***
Cost was £200 less than I remember.
Invoice copy added for those who wanted to know the full rebuild details.

MY98 Version 4.

I know Deep is aware of the different types, but for any 'surfers':

The same base vehicle as used for the 22B rally and road cars.

Obviously it now has V 5/6 Exterior ‘Styling’,
Front Bumper/Splitter/fog Covers – V6 MY00
Rear Spoiler – V5 MY99

But the following differences on V4 would remain – when compared to the later cars.

Momo airbag logo is different. (see Pics)
VF24 Turbo Instead of VF28
Phase 1.5 Gearbox, stronger unit exactly as used in the 22B.(Plus V-Limited 5th Gear)
Phase 1.5 Inlet manifold/Injectors, instead of Phase 2 (Coil In Centre).
Phase 1.5 Engine as used in V3 (& 22B), which is actually a much stronger unit only surpassed by V7/8..(Phase 2 V5/6 has been referred to as the ‘Chocolate piston engine’, mostly due to MAF errors, melting them)

Parts that would have been different (but uprated beyond V6 Subaru Spec):

Intercooler – Much bigger/efficient one fitted anyway (Will post Pics).
Inverted struts – Adjustable Leda’s fitted anyway
Later ECU Software – Programmable Link fitted anyway
Different type MAF – Link ECU doesn’t need one, so no MAF issues at all.
Crystal Headlights- Morrette’s fitted anyway.

Apart from the above, the two cars Interior/exterior would have been Identical.
Same Rear Bumper, Bonnet, Vents, Dash. Switches, Seats, Carpet etc…

This car also has the UK spec Passenger Airbag, not often fitted to Type R/RA’s

Long story. Terzo with PPP(written off), then UK99, then TypeR Ver4 (Link by BRD),then a STi7. Decided had enough of the Jap thing and bought a C32 AMG. Now want to keep the AMG AND have a classic STi or Evo6/7 to 'play with'.
imho STi7 is a backward step from STi6/5/4 ie heavier, narrow factory power band MORE understeer. This is imho before someone flames me!

This is a really nice car and whether I get myself together and buy it or not I genuinely wish you the best of luck. Someones going to get a special car

also imho, deep, but anyone who disagrees, from a drivers point of view (granted technology has moved on) with the above has not experienced, or should I say 'driven' a late classic STi, particularly a Type R or Type RA- which, just for the record (flame suit on) are a completely different kettle of fish to a regular STi of the same era.

Lightbulb 380-400 BHP capability.

Depending on the offer, for a quick cash sale, I can a do a deal on some parts to hit 380BHP+

GruppeS V2 Headers and Upipe. Brand new in Box with gaskets.
TD05/6 20G Turbo (used, but low miles)

With a remap (easy as it is a Link ECU) and bigger set of Injectors, this spec set-up has seen close to 400BHP.
With a Front Mount as well, you can easily get there.
Everything else on the car is uprated to get there.

Value of the above £1000.
These items are not for sale on their own.

Yup, Electric cooled and heated ones. Got a receipt for £998.00 each, plus vat in 1998.

I think the Sunroof was another £1500.00.

Big money been spent on this car.

You dont fancy it to replace the wagon then?

Hol, whilst it is an excellent car, i wont get rid of the Wagon (porbably ).

I porbably have a lot more money in the wagon too

Good luck with the sale, just thought i would mention the recaros, as you appeared to miss them off the list of things.

Steel sunroof was £1500 option IIRC, on my MY99 scoob.

Yours is a bit 'special'

I thought I had mentioned the seats, but you are right.

I didnt know they did the steel sunroof either, this one is the Glass One. Clever piece of kit, though.
