Update anyone? New engine is just about run in ready for mapping midweek, made 360bhp on the dyno on the running-in map at actuator pressure so hopeful for something fairly decent to get me down the long straights at Snetterton Not made any other changes to the car, if it aint broke...

Good to see you yesterday, John
Well, didn't quite go according to plan yesterday, fog wrote off morning warm up and i only got 3-4 laps in practice before a weld broke on the rad, pretty much ending my day there and then, we managed to scrounge a rad from a very helpful spectator but the engine just threw out a **** load of coolant on my one and only shot in qualifying getting me black flag, went out again but the coolant was all over my tyres by this point which was a challenge Decided to call it a day after that and not cause anymore damage to me or the car.

Seeing as i've not driven the car since my last post last October i've let this thread slip a little The car is still alive and kicking, Scoobyclinic have been using it as their pro entry for the Scooby Sprint series with success winning the last round and i was given the opportunity to drive it this weekend at TOTB. They've put their own 2.3 forged engine in to replace the one that expired at Snetterton, standard sti 8 heads, GT30r turbo and mapped on e85 pump fuel complete the setup, everything else has been unchanged bar a few tweeks to the handling for the tighter sprints.
I'd forgotten just how quick it was having driven a road impreza with 350bhp for the majority of this year, but soon got used to the power again, the spool up is amazing from the 30r compared to the 35r i used last year and without much drop in power as you can see from the graph - 6bhp less & 20ftlb more The whole engine/turbo setup is a credit to the guys at Scoobyclinic, it never missed a beat all day, the only drama being an IC hose that blew off mid run...oh and breaking a rear driveshaft, i've always wanted to do that on the drag strip Thanks to Beef, Paul & JB for fixing that for us
The day went ok for a change, managed to get all my 5 runs in, i was happy with my times, i could have gone quicker but lost 2 runs, one for the hose blowing off and one for over exuberance I believe i ended up 7th overall which is a good achievement for what i was up against, some nice scalps collected
Then on to the 1/4 mile - i wanted too have a go at the top speed to see if i could beat last years, but was told the map wasn't right for prolonged WOT so rightly gave it a miss. The car was setup for handling so the camber was way off perfect for dragging, but bolted the drag tyres on nether the less. I started with the comp/reb suspension settings from the handling course for a couple of goes and played around with launch control managing a 10.58@133, then the driveshaft goes 30 mins later after it's fixed and i get down to 10.44@128, getting better but the start's not right, a bit more fiddling with the suspension to get rid of the rear end bounce and i get a great start....only for the boost hose to blow off again fix it and go for another run, sit in the queue for ages as they mess around with the timing and by the time i get to the start it's raining....and it's my last go, i nail the start again but i've got too much wheel spin on the wet rubber, the rest of the run is near perfect No idea of the time as there's no time card for the run, another day...
hi mate see this car all the time when im up at scoobyclinic, never knew you were its owner it looks awsome, never seen the engine, mines the spec c you may have seen up the clinic, your gonna have to take me for a blast in it everyone says its a monster

Becoming less and less my car as the days go by, it's served me well though the new car is the newage shell in the corner It's a monster alright, it's not for the faint hearted out on the road though, especially around the roads near clinic!

yeah its the newage spec c being done for time attack i have a thread if you want to take a look its a few posts under yours called "time attac build"
y is it not your car anymore i heard you and mikee were building a car together, hidden away in the corner with a weld in, thats the one isnt it, is that a newage too? what is going to happen to the pink car, are you going to run with me for the clinic 2010 time attack and scobysprint??
I'll take a look, didn't realise it was for TA Yep, the newage in the corner is ours, should be ready for 2010 Pink car will most likely be sold.
oh yes, that is pretty much its sole purpose never be on the road again, the aero bodywork that starts next week is so low and wide it would just be impractical. spec is huge kev reckons 600bhp is very realistic with the parts were using. i will then run the car under scoobyclinic in time attack and scoobysprint, heading up there tomorrow get the spoiler fitted and get the logistics of getting it to abw sorted they really dont hang around up the clinic do they its just flat out

So far the only thing i've borrowed from the pink car are a pair of seat rails, everything else is brand new We've got other plans for the pink car, so maybe this thread isn't over just yet!

holy crap, didnt realise the owner of this was on here. these SC cars look so composed and well setup round the sprint tracks i often wondered what was behind them - clearly a lot of cash
i want my car to end up something like this, then id be a happy guy
