The longer the A4 complaint is left the less value the 'protest', but I doubt anything would be gained by it now.

Trouble with doing cars for me is I keep thinking about going quicker.
Should I strip my faithful 2 litre and fit forged parts and a nice 321H, or bite the real bullet and do a 2.5?

Ever since the new engine it's been really fast in a straight line but it's taken until now to get it properly usable for hillclimbing and I have been lucky that Paul has been tweeking the car on almost a weekly basis for me to find the balance, I think making a very powerful 2litre is not difficult but I do think making it usable in our game is difficult. Corners like ettories and pardon at prescott, hall at Loton to name a few really expose the smaller capacity engines trouble to get the big turbo spinning initialy and there has been much buggeration over the last couple of months getting it right. Also the torque could be an issue, at curborough I cross the finish line 3mph faster than Roy, at the steep gradient of shelsley we are exactly the same mph showing the torque really helps on the steeper hills. I think the 2.5 is probably the better route but I do love the way my car revs with power right upto the redline, I'm not sure if the 2.5 would be like that. Having never driven one I'm just guessing.
There is of course the ££££'s issue of a 2.5 as well.
You will have to take my car out and see what you think, and if anyone has a 2.5 400+bhp car for Graham and I to try speak up so we can make a comparison!
The rain stopped just before it got to the house, just for long enough for my stupid cat to get stuck at the top of a 30ft tree and muggins here to go and get him down, I'm getting too old to be climbing trees!
Shell looks great doesn't it, but sorry, race cars are not allowed in Our Class!
The EVO is the better car, but the thought of having to learn about them = years of mistakes and cost, just like doing the Impreza.
Trying to come to grips with the thought of 2.5/ppg and it is hard to get enthusiastic atm.
Running the 911 this month will be a good break from the Sti. Spent a few moments cleaning/checking it over yesterday, just so simple a car and (to my mind) looks fab.
Shelsley on list 1A's and never been raced for 5 years...sounds like a buzz to me.
My Manangoni's were really good in the soaking wet, but as the track drained/damp arrived they were pretty cr@p as in a previous vid.
Good on the road though.
Was your feeling to the Toyo's in wet or various conditions Steven?
I went from Toyo to Kumho for the exact reasons you give and never looked back, but was poorer to.
I wish i had paid the price 2 months back for some soft or medium grade Kumho's, but it will be dry from now on right?
I never liked them in the Wet Graham, but i used them several times, as they should have stood a better chance of putting 500+ hp down in damp/wet/snowy conditions than the DJ01's would have. When i tried them on the road in the dry, they were positively life threatening on my car!
TOYO 888's and DJ01's were far better in the dry (as would be expected) but were also usable in the damp/wet.
I think the only reason i put the T1-R's on the car was because of the threat of snow when i was due to be mapping the car. They stayed on there for road work, too long IMO though.
He really does! how i beat him is past me!!!! the speed he has on board around orchard in the wet is just awesome, top top driver!! Such a shame he is not going to be able to make alot of meets this year with his daughter getting married etc.. i really get on with roy and he's up for a laugh!

His car is fast but more to the point, safe and so predictable. His previous cars were fast but needed to be driven and where was he then, nowhere.
Actually, that is a good point.
Roy 'came good' when he got the EVO, before then his cars were a bit odd and he was well down on the class.
I have been out on the road with Roy in the EVO last year, from Prescott to PowerStation and that car is sublime, corney expression but it is so sorted it hurts.
That was when I realised I had the wrong car to start with!
Roy also has raced cars for a very long time.
Graham, more than a good point, it's fact. An OK driver could drive his Evo quick, that's plain to see. His earlier car which was also one of two of the same cars (The other one led the class on numerous occasions) wasn't driven very well in the slightest.
OK it was a difficult car to drive fast, but the other guy managed it.
An equal car driven by a good driver in the class now would destroy Roys times, no question.

You still have to drive the car up the hill, and roy is always pushing low times. The man is 65 and he is still hard to beat, he never uses slicks and rob graham and I are still are only just on his pace. If you ask me the bloke is good at it, all our cars are "safe and predictable" in this class dosnt make us poor drivers! And remember this is amature motorsport we all do it for the buzz not for money! Come and have a crack at it see if you can beat him.

Just had a pop in rob's car, i can tell you now Graham you and I are fooked! its so so fast and so light and usable now. He has bags of time left in that car I am actually thinking of going out and buying one! Fancy buying and Evo 7 extreme S graham?

Pete, why is it when somebody has an educated opinion about somebody they are automatically labelled as not liking the guy. I know Roy and have nothing against the guy personally. All that you've said by saying he openly admits somebody else would be quicker in his car, simply confirms what I say about what I know of his driving ability.
I know all about the classes too and could tell you a lot more besides. Having spent many years in the game myself you tend to know what it is you're watching for.
All im saying is, too many times i have heard people knock the bloke and say its his car and come along with similar cars and get hammered into the ground.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions. I do rate Roy as a driver and think he drives that car really well and chasing his times is extremley difficult, undoubtedly there are other people who could drive it faster but the car in this sport is just as important as the driver as the class regs and budgets are so broad. Roy and his evo have proved a good combination and he held many records and won the midland championship, a good car and driver combo at the right time.
Spoon, do you still race, if not what did you drive when you did, and how did you fair competetivley. I'm interested as we all know each other on here and it's obvious you know a thing or two about the sport but have not made yourself know.
They positively scared me sh!tless with my car recently, to the point i didnt want to drive it.
As they are list 1A tyres which will allow me to run in the road going class in some events, the were very cheap, they are a good tyre for driving in extreme wet conditions, I can get around in the car when I need to without trailering on them. R888's are list 1B tyres which would put me in modified production class, where I would be allowed to use these which I have on another set of wheels,
Which are worlds apart from any road legal tyre, they don't look like that anymore though.
After speaking to a few folks in the know it seems list 1A tyres are all pretty rock hard and much of a muchness.
Rob, yes indeed. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Apparently Roy agrees with me so I think I can say it's a valid opinion.
I watched Roy with interest when he was in the racing class and base my opinions on his performance there. Of course you guys racing him now will rate him simply because he's in front of you, that's natural surely.
I will knock the **** out of you if you ever walk near me and make yourself known at any of these events. I hate know it all pricks like you who just spend hours and hours of there life on the net looking for some way to stick there nose in and make smart ass comments!
