I thought it was high time I told you good folks what I've been upto over the last few months. The car itself was an accident damaged shell. I bought the shell for £1000. It has also escaped being a Cat D for some reason according to the recent HPI check I've made. Mind you that's irrelivant as I won't be selling it
It was a complete car minus the engine, Ecu front brakes and seats.
The bonus was that the shell had Tein Coilovers, Whiteline 22mm anti Roll bars and Whiteline solid drop links.
For £1000 I thought it was an absolute bargain.
I have and shall be continuing to do all the work on this car myself with 1 exception the mapping.
I've been working on the car since its purchase and have bought parts as and when I have been able to afford them. Most of them have been sourced second hand via members on here and via some ebay purchases.
So another project begins.

I decided that I should be able to repair it so I bought the car.

The damaged panels were removed using a spot weld drill and were replaced.
They were then primed up.
I then painted the repair with base coat and then lacquer.
I didn't like the colour match so I decided to do the whole car which in my garage being a first time painter was a mistake.
It was then through a friend that I met a painter who was just starting out on his own and said if I'd help he'd paint the car for free. I jumped at the chance.
As the car was without engine and my paint work was rubbish I also decided I'd do a full colour change to something a bit diferent.

Yeah I'm alot further on. I'm just writing it up as I've never written it on here it was all on 22b. I'm bringing it upto date on here that's all Then I'll update both concurrently
So with the bodywork 95% completed it was time to start gathering parts.
I managed to get a 2.5 Crank, some Roger Clark / Arrow WRC Rods and some RCMS / Omega Pistons 2.5L Low compression pistons and some Kent Adjustible Vernier Cam pulleys.
I've also had a 2.0L Closed Deck Block sitting in my garage that I bought for £50 a couple of years back. I decided to be a bit different and get that bored and sleeved to 2.5. So in went some top hat liners.

It is from Mark's car, getting the heads ported and possibly fitting some adjustable pulleys but retaining the standard valvetrain for the moment.
Have you decided what ecu you will be running? Going to run a solaris on mine now. As soon as its mapped will let you know what it is like and how it drives.
The mate who's spray shop it was had a mixing scheme. We were pissed up one night and started making colours. This is what we came up with. We made 5 litres of it. It's a one off. I only have a litre left which is being saved if any touch ups are needed.
A thicker head gasket is used to make sure the 2.5 bore size and the sti 5 2.0L head combo produce the correct compression ratio. I've used a 1.6mm thick gasket instead of the factory 0.7mm.
