ive noticed a few threads on here asking if you can facelift a bugeye to a hawkeye front end ??? well the answer is yes as im about to do mine as i own a 2007 hawkeye to witch i have just rear ended heavily and have now purchased back off insurance company on a cat-b so it cant go back on road.
ive just purchased a cracking shell off oldfella on here (cheers) and now im gonna begin a photo diary doing the conversion as i change everything off the hawkeye onto the bugeye
2.5 engine, gearbox, suspension, dash, wiring loom, full facelift front end, interior ect ect.
heres the 1st picture of the shell getting delivered today.

Reason: update
This is gonna be a blinder, would love to do this myself and been thinking about it for while..... Will base my final descision on how much grief this gives you
got bored sitting in house so went back to garage and started on hawkeye
stripped complete front end off and from the look of things with the headlight surrounds and slam panel everything should fit ( i hope ) lol.
now i think its time for a stiff drink ! later all.
put another 6 hrs into this today. killing the hawkey
drilled front panel and headlight surrounds out
stripped engine bay
removed engine & gearbox
stripped dash board out
stripped interior and doors out
sourced a rear bumper and lights to fit (cheap as chips)
heres the pics >>
might be back to garage tonite after tea see how i feel being the weekend and all lol !!
never seen this done before as looked about the web for hints but couldnt find anything.
gonna keep the wrc blue as the paint work on the bugeye is mint it has painted and laqured engine bay . so just get the front and rear painted then all waxed and polished.
just removed the struts full loom petrol tank and drive train today from hawkeye and noticed the accelerator pedal is different to bugeye it is electric driven and not cable and bolts onto a bracket that is not in the bugeye ?????????? anyway out came the drill and drilled the spot welds off the bracket so i can weld it into bugeye also i noticed there is some sort of rollover sensor with wires bolted on the front and rear rollbars but not on bugeye ... dosent really matter as im swapping loom anyway just seemed strange ??
well thats the hawkeye completely stripped so now its time to start transplanting onto the bugeye . should be pretty easy aslong as the nightmare of a wireing loom goes straight in (-:
will keep you,s posted and take pics tomorrow.
cheers rice rocket but im doing a full strip out and replace in bugeye ie, loom ecu engine gearbox clocks dash drive train . so not alot to mod apart from the throttle pedal bracket as its diiferent and a couple of bits and pieces here and there . but them threads make good reading and have being stored for future records cheers fella lee.
well im back put a 15 hr shift in yesterday at garage and now have the conversion is 95% complete
work involved yesterday >
full loom fitted including door looms
dash and clocks fitted
steering coloum rack and steering wheel
fit petrol tank and fuel lines due to it used to have paralel lines and pumps (cheers old fella lol )
rear diff fitted
gearbox fitted
front suspension and brakes fitted
2007 2.5 wrx engine fitted
rear bumper and rear lights fitted
fitting front slam panel and headlight surrounds
full hawkeye front end fitted
turned the key yesterday and it fired up first time (wasnt expecting it too but it did and guess what the sigma cat 1 alarm even chirrped to life (-: )
now all thats left to do is fit rear suspension and hubs , inner arch liners , put carpet and interior back in , fasten a few clips here and there , fit wheels then down to the paint shop (-:
fitting the hawkeye front end DOES INVOLVE A LOT OF HARD WORK ! it took us 5 hrs of torture with a tape measure and tin snips , we had to cut the inside edge off the headlight surround then cut 4 > 5 inches off the inner wings as they are longer on the bugeye . trial fit panels on off on off and hold front panel with clamps all over as each spot weld was fitted to ensure everything still lined up. but the end result is pretty impressive, the front wings are deffiantly wider than the bugeye but in my view i think this looks good from the front and the back.
still deciding what seats to fit as i have a full sti black trim and the full grey/black hawkeye trim have a look at pictures tell me what you think . (-;
ALSO IM MISSING A FRONT TOWING EYE COVER IF ANYBODY HAS 1 !
