That mother of a set-up is gonna breath easier than if you necked a packet of Lockets!

Had a text from Chy on Thurs saying he's fitted the below bad boys on.....Mapping date has been booked and we are looking at less than 2 weeks. If you are down at Chy's ask him to give you a preview of of her...

I am planning to go up to Shakespear so let me know when you are ready and I will join you - Chy may even come if he knows both of us are running!

A bit more of an update.

Meercat has done a bit more welding. He has welded up the pipe to flange face. This would seal up the little gap that was there and will be getting the weld polished up and cleaned off for the final finish.

He is currently working on a F430 soft top...the guy wanted a backbox to free up more noise and power!

I was down at Meercat today...alot of work has been carried out.
The exhaust box and tail tip has been finished. The overall length of the sytem is as short as a regular scooby back box!

Here is a close up shot of the re-packable back box.

The pipework has be finished for the entry of the twin wastegates.V band fitment has made up the whole building process alot easier, quicker and neater...no more blown gaskets. The exit for the wastegates has yet to be complete as other work has to be carried out before it can be finished.

Note the fitment of a V Band at this section.
I'm going to be running a fully unsilenced system for track/strip and a silenced for driving in the streets/back roads. That V Band would make it a quick release for swap over time. There is going to be a small silencer on the screamer pipe just to quiet it down for street use LOL.

Oh Meercat has welded in 2 hangers for supporting the exhaust box.

Thats all for the now and it will continue on monday.

this project is awsome i see a lot of people are now chosing front bumper instead of rotated i assume this causes no heat issues being there and its gotta improve spool up time, why did you chose this over a rotated setup. ive got my own project on here my time attack car for next year have a peek " time attack build" by utaka
work has just started but plans are for a solid reliable 530bhp 500flb and take it from there
i would like to know how you get along and the reasons why you have chosen this setup, how much did your fabricated exhaust cost and how can it be silenced, as i said im going rotated but its alays good to have another point of veiw

what was the problem to have the turbo on the stock place??? now u have it in the front.. more weight on the front, more understeer, the temperature from the headers and turbo is not good for the belts behind the turbo and more other stuff.. i dont get it.. why??? where u wil fit the watercooler etc etc???

JP4, I was nearly going to go with the RCM verniers as well but paul told me I would buy them and find out I didn't really need them so I saved the £600

The heat issue is an unkwn to me so you would need to ask Zen or AndyF about that one.
I previously had a rotated GT3040 set up and was never happy about the spool up because of issues. It could have been the custom headers that i got made! But i still ran a mid to low 11 with that before HG issues arised.
But i know wanted more power with this round of mods and better spool up.
So i spoked to a well respected mapper and thought were exchanged and a new twin scroll turbo was chosen.
I chose this set up because it the shortest header run for the turbo and should aid spool up but i'm sure there will be complication as we are nearing the finish project.
Hence where i am the now.
It has been a roller coaster ride for me with the scooby modding scene but all is looking well the now.
The exhaust system is silenced and the screamer pipe is going to be silenced too.Although i will be running 2 seperate system for road use and track use.

You simply can't put a turbo of that dimension in stock location.

Why???

Modding is never going to go forward unless you do things differently

All about timing Peter...all about timing. When's your next trip down to see Chy?

Stevebt - I like a bit of colour under the bonnet! Also it's a bit like RCM sell the expensive WRC style billet crank yet majority say it's not really needed. Did you get your injectors sorted in the end m8?

fair play it obviously works look at zens car but saying that rcm win everything and they use a rotated setup im increasing the cc to get better low down push while the beast spools up. i just always saw that setup as potential hassle as the turbo is right by fmic an rad, surely raising intake temps, any sort of front end damage and you have a turbo, headers and exhaust to replace, and the belts, wont they slcken with the heat from the turbo. anyway you know your stuff this project looks awsome ill be watching it right the way through. maybe when its complete i could have a look. my car is one or two below you in projects section

If you are aiming to be closer to 600 do you know if you have to upgrade on any other supporting parts? Will your clutch be okay?

My clutch is good for 670lbs but I'm not sure how it will cope when done as it must be getting close to 600lbs??? Everything else on the car is well covered

I take it you'll be running a lil more boost?

600lbs i like....hope you're going to be improving your gear changing on the strip .....and you don't get too much traction probs. Are your tyres going to be ok or you gonna be running something like 888s?

With that much power/torque you should be in the early 11s...if not late 10s?? With the likes of you and Fai17.....you'll be doing the New Ages proud!

Pete, where did you get the throttle body from? I take it this is going to be a track car, as I can see a lot of bemused people with burnt calves looking in the engine bay whilst she is running.

One heck of a project cannot wait to see and hear her on the tarmac.

Cheers Steve
