Default World Series by Renault

Sorry know this is in the wrong place. But the motor racing thread seems to get used by muppets. Not the tidy people here in Rallying. Like our own little community here
Anyway, who fancies going. Tickets are free, ive been for the last few years, is an excelent day out.

Good link. Nice to get something for free, so I've requested tickets and will decide nearer the time if I can make it (and if the weather is going to be OK). I never attended one of these events when I had a Renault (weren't they going to can it? ), and now I've sold my Turbo 2, it looks like I'll finally manage to get there

Oh yes Donington rocked for WSR. I too used to get a spot inside the Old hairpin, and then with my video camera capture the action from hollywood almost all the way to coppice! The last time it was there one race had to be restarted twice because of a crash then one car did a barrel roll. Anyone remember that? Either way I've not missed a day of this even since it started in 2005, this'll be my 9th and 10th days of free motorsport!

Ordered my tickets yesterday morning! Sat at Woodcote for the two days last year, anyone else get towards the back of the track?

Yes i rember the barrel roll at Donnington, and the Meganes having a good smash on the Saturday, at the old hairpin.
Got some serious sunburn at Silverstone last year, sat oppisite the grid, forgot the sun cream.

If the gearbox on the insignia goes like the one on the SRI, they can keep it!

Ł500 for a replacement fitted, so at the mo, it's being sold as is. Good riddance! (And the scoob is a bit more of a looker!)

Exactly what we're doing. Going up in the early hours of Saturday, quicky pitch the tent, go watch the racing, back to the tent for a BBQ and (a lot) of beers (and yep, some of my burgers!) and back in on Sunday. The more the merrier I say!

I'lll keep you lot informed of where we're camping, dont know if we can camp within the circuit.... Any ideas folks?

There was camping in the circuit last year, although fully booked quickly.
Pleanty of camp sites around the track, so should be easy for some pitches.
I think there was a firework display, and a live concert, fairground etc, in the evening in field from Brooklands bridge.
Let me know whats happing, would be intreasted in a bit of camping, otherwise i might just meet you up there for the day.

Sorry, just rembered, there was no in circuit camping last year, it was full of displays, and Renaults

Failing that there's a Travelodge nearby - not the same but a nearby stop over point all the same. Think me and My Dad were considering that instead of a daily commute from Telford to Silverstone!

Record Demand for World Series Event

All tickets for the free World Series by Renault event have now been allocated with organisers receiving a staggering 250,000 requests – exceeding all expectations.

In 2008, the UK leg of World Series by Renault attracted a total crowd of 110,000 establishing it as the second largest motorsport event in the UK behind the British Grand Prix. This year’s event is set to be even bigger with organisers expecting even bigger crowds for the two-day motorsport extravaganza which returns to Silverstone Grand Prix circuit on 4th/5th July.

Community members lucky enough to receive tickets can look forward to a host of top class UK and international motor racing action as well as an array of off-track entertainment.

The weekend centres on the headline Formula Renault 3.5 Championship together with the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Championship. Using cars based on the stunning New Megane Renaultsport, the Eurocup Mégane Trophy will also be in action as will the ELF Renault Clio Cup with Michelin and the Michelin Formula Renault UK Championships – the latter boasting Kimi Räikkönen and Lewis Hamilton among its previous Champions.

Renaultsport fans will also be able to get a sneak preview of the much talked about New Mégane Renaultsport 250 which will be on display alongside the current Renaultsport range which includes the New Clio Renaultsport 200.

Furthermore, debuting this year and born out of our passion for racing, we are proud to introduce our Clio and Mégane World Series Special Editions. These exclusive models which are both sporty and affordable feature distinctive World Series sport styling and of course exclusive World Series badging. You can see the whole range at Silverstone.
