Looks like its running down the front of the subframe matt you need to check round the area above it.

As above. Whilst the car was up on jack have you maybe altered very slightly the engine balance on it's mounts and caused a pipe to come off - turbo coolant etc?

The jack slipped onto the two nuts when I was raising it so it will have shook the engine a bit.

It's thin and almost clear oil.

not brake fluid leaked out is it?

if the res was full then jacking the front of the car will of course tilt the car back and it could leak out.

check that first and report back lol

Definitely a good shout. Particularly as you say it is clear in colour.

Right just been under the bonnet, no tell tail clean trail marks from the brake fluid res, it's filled 5mm from max, so not that high. There is a clean spot near the strut tower with a few trail marks coming from it, looks like some kind of pressure mark. I think it's pretty near a turbo hose.

TBH there is no sign of the oil now, it's all evaporated. Whatever it was it must have been something that leaked when the car was jacked up. It's tasted foul that's for sure, left an aftertaste for an hour.

Well, gear oil stinks, brake fluid smells too but is quite thin. if its gone it could be coolant if you say there are marks around the turbo, but they you would expect the water level to drop.

hard to tell without looking really lol

It was odourless, I'll just keep my eye on the fluid levels and the diff plate.

Well you'll know in a day or two if it was anti-freeze if you liver packs up and you die.

What on earth were you thinking tasting it.

Obviously I drank in moderation.

37ml won't hurt anyone.

Modern anti freeze is no longer sweet tasting like it used to be, the additive now is designed to taste horrendous to make it less attractive to kids and the desperate. Tiniest taste lingers for an age, Sound to me like it was antifreeze.

Brake fluid got it's own taste, also 'feels' different than oil when rubbed between finger and thumb.

My landrover taught me all the differing flavours. No end of practice sampling whatever essence it happens to be leaking. Best to mix all the drips together and whatever flavour is lacking is the one that needs its level topping up.
