I bought a newage STI off Max a few years ago, lovely honest car. He actually pointed out minor imperfections that I hadn't noticed.

I popped up threre to check over a Type R last week, again completely open about the car and its issues, (which were very Minor and few).

IMO Max is to be trusted and normally has a good selection of tasty cars.

I've not heard a bad word about them. They've got a good reputation, cars aren't the cheapest but then again peace of mind is worth paying the extra for.

I'd personally pay a slight premium to buy from them tbh.

I'm gonna stop now, as I sound like a fanboy.

I bought mine from Max @ Hurst. He is a top bloke. Mine was a '99 2.1 stroker STI 5. Its did have a few issues when I bought it that occurred after the purchase. But you need to be realistic about what your buying. Mine was a tuned motor built in Ireland to around 350/400 hp. To ask Max to put a full warranty on a car that was not built by him would be unreasonable. He did have receipts and full details of the build, parts used, all mods and the details of the tuner in Ireland who built the car. It did however have a few issues that wormed their way out after purchase but where not engine related. It had a few electrical issues and leaky rear shocks. Having said that a couple of the blades on the impeller of the turbo where bent. I spoke to Max about these issues and we did come to an agreement and he did refund some of the cost of the car to cover the cost of the niggles that needed to be sorted out. Couldn't say fairer than that at all. Happy with his service though out the sale and they way in which he dealt with the issues after sale. I'd buy from him again.

Tidgy, you asleep or what?
I've never bought a car from max but going by what I read, I wouldn't hesitate to go buy a car off him.

There you go, and nice to hear some positive feedback, particularly from people that have actually had dealings with them rather than the usual 'my mates mate ' rubbish. I was going to look at a couple they had before I bought my current blob.

Bought a car from max 2 weeks ago. I've put 500miles on with no issues. I found him genuine and honest.

A trader buying cheap and selling for a profit, Isn't that kind of how it works ?
I'm sure you're not doing what you do as some sort of public service. Just out of interest what would you charge to respray a front bumper on a Blob STI?

He may have offered you less than Cheshire performance but he may well have sold it for less.

How else would a business work Jake ???
If the cars are too expensive then they wouldn't sell, if he's able to get them cheap then fair play to him. He sells alot of cars so he's obviously not that over the top with prices.....

And not sure what you mean by 'no warranty'. Do you mean he doesn't use a third party company to cover the warranty ??
He's a dealer so by law has to offer warranty, that warranty does not have to be via another company.

I've dealt with Max many times. Very pleasant chap and as honest as the day is long.
