I have black, no '25 of 100'. May 1994.

I know the Esoteric Beast has shiny red '45 of 100'.

Recently in Autotrader, silver no '66 of 100' was for sale. M-reg.

Anyone got any of the other numbers, or know of anyone with one. I'd be interested to see how many we have in the UK.

They have a plaque in the engine bay suspension turret area with the number and month of manufacture. These cars are special in that they were the ones taken away by STi to carry out homologation activity on.

Have you any pictures of the plaque? And of the car engine bay - this might help establish some details?

The 66 car was on an m-reg, so that would've been Aug onwards.

Just a guess, but as a manufacturer, you'd build your 100 cars then pass them round various dealers (depending on demand). Therefore it is indeed possible to prehaps have a car with a lower number that was sold/registered after a higher number.

Hi guys -

MY94 STI 1 Wagon, mines 34 out of 100 ( IIRC ! ). The plaque giving the designation should be on the drivers side of the engine bay, right by the pink end of the strut brace.

Finding details of these early STI cars in a nightmare - as the engines were basically hand-built, you never know whats going to be in them. Mine's bog standard, and yet seems to be managaing 20-30 bhp more than it should be !

.... right, my model code is GF8B58D, which translates to Oct.93-Aug.94 MY94.

Oh, and my car is 24/100, so it's even earlier than I suspected.

Hope this helps.

Never heard of the 200 run, but maybe they had a few of them - who knows? Crazy japs!

Liked the idea of the 100 cars out to dealers, only problem is the plaque actually says the month and year, which I'd imagine would go on when completed? I dunno - its one for STi to answer - think I'll drop them a mail and see if I can get anywhere with the query. I think everyones car has the same sort of set up, so I dont think theres anything to worry about - sure theres a good explanation for it.

So now we have:

no 24
no 25
no 45
no 66 MIA

Cool!

What I have found out about mine is that it should be 250bhp as standard but I have no trouble keeping up with other scoobs that have had extras added I do have some strange exhaust on it though, oval in shape which I still dont know what it is I'll post a pic tomorrow when the light gets better
I am going to get mine on a rolling road soon so maybe able to post then, but it one very quick motor, not the smoothest but very raw, but that what I love about it

Maybe we should have a "non-aggresive, just for fun" competition to find the earliest STI in the UK ? Could be a laugh.

As far as performance on these cars, mines got 130,000+ KMS on it, and it showed 289BHP/269LB torque first time on the rolling road. Quite pleased, I was....

Here here mate!!

I have some weird jap exhaust with no markings, but its doesnt half grumble like michael barrymore when you put the boot down.

I havent raced against anything, but for sheer overtaking its a doddle - infact, a Nissan 200 thingy was cruising at 100mph up a hill and running low on puff - I just sank the boot and shot past him. Feel like cat toying with mouse, when I'm in the subaru.

Esoteric - does your V5 actually say impreza on it? I've got '2 rigid axle, 4 door saloon' as a description. Not a mention of Impreza anywhere. Other thing - have you notice how cr@p the brakes are?? I've got pagid grooved discs and pads and its supposed to be better - good knows what they were like before.

Also, mate what do you reckon on the 134 of 200 car mentioned above? Saw pictures and he engine looks the same as mine.

Still not done many miles in the car - <400 anyway. I need to get out in it more!!

Marky-San -

First thing I did to mine was upgrade to 4 pots - damn thing felt lethal with only 2 pots ! If I ever took the old girl out on the track, I'd want to upgrade again, these cars are hard on the brakes.

Or maybe it's just me....

BoxerFlat4 - not surprised with that mate!! Thats a fair ole jump from 250bhp.

Mines got 55K miles, and I'm scared to take it to the RR incase it takes a nervous breakdown. Need to do it - got HKS induction and Michael Barrymore exhaust. So I hope to be near the same bhp as yourself.

A friendly competition - what a cool idea. Need some more members though - haha!

Checked the motor on the way home from work, unfortunately couldnt see any plaques anywhere near the pink bits on the strut brace - looks like mine was'nt part of the first run - its a gc8c revision. Do you guys know of any other sources of information on early sti's aside from the SIDC faq? - gonna have to rolling road mine to find out exactly what shes putting out. Also have a unmarked jasma exhaust - unsure of the manufacturer, not sure if its a aftermarket one or not! - aside from the strut brace and pink badges on the body, water tank and dash (speedo) & pink stitching on gear stick not really a lot different i can see about mine to a standard wrx!!

4 pots sound good, 6 pots sound even better though you do then have to change the discs and your wheels and then your spare wont fit over it, so if you puncture a front you have to put the back one on the front and the spare on the back.........what joy.

My brake at present dont seem bad but then I have never owned a 1.1 fiesta so cant compare.

Not sure what to make about the one in the Jap mag I did read the article and the owner didnt really know what he had.

With what we have found so far they certainly didnt keep the STI's to one model/colour etc etc ...good to see the odd wagon out there.

Marky as for the log book/V5 it does show it as a '2 rigid axle, 4 door saloon' and also an 1800cc, that was normal for Imports, if only I could have insured it as an 1800

See this guys site : http://www.freenetpages.co.uk/hp/ken.ross/sti/
Mines 1/100, it says 1994 on the plaque but 1995 on the log book ?

Andyp

Cool

Just noticed this thread guys,
My car is a MY94, didn't know too much about these cars when I
first bought it 3 years ago. The car was sold to me by a Garage
as a WRX STi, everything seems to check out to it being an sti,
No ABS, Quickshift, Sti brake hoses, Sti zorst, no foglamps etc,
etc. But there is no plaque on the inner turrets and no sti detailing on the interior, ( dials, stitching on g/stick etc).
Does anyone have any idea how we could get some official data
from japan or Sti in particular as to the engine codes and body codes for the cars that they produced?

Personally I'd like to find out as they will be worth a fortune
in the future
ps mine says 2 axle rigid body on the V5 as well

Dougie

Yeah we have a few of the STi '1' models here in NZ. The sedans had a huge alloy hoop rear wing and weird 16" alloys and the 000 of 100 plate... will try to dig up some pix. This is the car that really started it all rolling ! BTW there were a few early single turbo Legacy's with some STi bits...

Hello Jaay - yes I am who you think I am, and yip I bought Neils car, and its a cracker to drive. No real problems other than leaking coolant tank, and waterspray tank fell off. Its a great car.

Crusty - it'd be good to get any other of the XXX of 100 cars listed on here, as they are special and hopefully they will go up in value someday (heh-heh).

Anyone got any pics of their cars, so we can compare them?

Heres a couple of pictures of my car

The only changes to my car has been the obligatory clear indicators and sidies. STi red/clear clusters will probably arrive this week sometime. So that should clean up the rear.

Anyone want to add their Sti to this, its the closest we're likely to get to a meet! Come on, add you pic now.

Anyone?

Meant to say I have an MRO front grill still to cut to fit, and paint. Should look a bit more open, and less slatty (that is slatty and not slutty I wrote) that the original.
