Getting closer and closer to purchasing!

OK, what I could do with is some names for Importers/Import Agents that handle used scoobies.

Initial contact via a website/email would be preferred (I'm rather telephobic)

I've tried Orient Vehicles, and somewhere else I can't remember at the mo.

can you help?

Rsquire.. Can I ask you exactly what you bought and how much you paid in USA dollars?
How did you get a US title? how long did the whole process take? And What about the availability of parts in the USA?

Being an engineer I have had problems getting metric hardware in the states. It seems there are several types, i.e. British, French, German, Swiss, etc.. have you run across this prob with your car?

Hopefully you wont say "subs dont break"!! *L*

Try Vehicle Buyers Japan UK, e-mail vbjapan@aol.com mark it for the attention of Marcus or Grant they are a great bunch of guys that can help with most things from competitive insurance to spares, I know they have impreza's in stock but am not sure of the specs etc, if they have not got what you want they can get one.

Good Luck.

PS The telphone number is 01635 38942

Dear Markus,
I have a friend who does this with her partner and they offer a very friendly personal service. You tell them what car you want, the spec, the colour, the mileage, the price you want to pay and they find one for you to suit. Once you have decided that the car they have found is suitable (from photos normally, as the car is usually still in Japan), you put a deposit down and they get it in for you and you pay the balance upon delivery.

Because of this they are a good £2-3k cheaper than anyone else. Also they offer a FULL money back guarantee if you are not happy with the car. I will give you all the numbers as well as the e-mail address and you can see for yourself. If you e-mail them they will send you a brochure detailing exactly the procedure they use for buying a used import (and it's free). Because they aren't trying to rip people off (those FTO things that everyone sells for £10-12k are actually being purchased at between £5-7K!) they seem to be doing quite well out of it...

Tel: 01508 481 768
Fax: 01508 488 017
Mob: 07787 566 041
E-mail: dacarimports@aol.com
Hope this helps.
Best regards
Mike

Question

Markus,
Go and buy yourself a copy of Car Importer Guide magazine. It has loads of info on buying within the EU or importing directly from Japan, In the back is a directory of 65 companies who import for you and their web addresses if you want.

You could do worse than Home Straight. Tel 01932 843777. Contact Ian Paterson.

Excellent service all round. Found me a lovely WRX to the exact spec I asked for.

I'd also second GEEZER on the Car Import Guide magazine. Thats how I found Home Straight!

Bugger, Ian Watkins beat me to it!

Very impressed with Litchfield Imports Ltd. An extremely friendly, honest and professional service!

Please note: In case you didn't know, STI Imports is very closely tied (sister company?) to Interpro Automotive Ltd sorry Interpro Engineering Ltd in Thornbury.

I bought a 22B #133. It's still in the UK in the tender hands of Anders

I'm working on getting it here to the USA at the moment. If I can't get it in here then no big deal. It's only $475 return Seattle / London and a good excuse to meet SIDC members.

If, I can't get it into here then it just means that I would have to take a 3 month holiday in the UK. Before I export it to Australia, when I return there in 2 years time.

Richard
