Hello all,
Another quick question. Whats the difference between Import and UK specification?
Assuming you mean a parallel import from europe rather than a Jap WRX, the spec is essentially the same as a UK car with a couple of exceptions. Whilst all leave the factory the same, the UK importers add a thatcham cat. 1 alarm themselves and add the 2000AWD sticker. The european importer adds a GT sticker. If you ordered a debadged car and fitted an alarm only a specialist could tell the difference (from chassis number etc) In fact there are a few more options available abroad eg 555 rally blue paint, boost/oil pressure guages instead of centre glove box. Some people also reckon the UK importers add an extra dollop of underseal but no one seems sure.
P.S....That is assuming it is a UK spec car ordered from a european dealer. Obviously there are loads of LHD scoobys running around with k/m speedos etc over there that someone could import.
Mine woz from Holland. Uk spec. Quite happy with them - the only thing that was lacking was enough underseal. It was noisy as hell from the wheel arches before my servicer did more black stuff on the 1k service.
The standard Jap car (called WRX) is quite different - higher spec level and 276bhp (vs 215bhp for export market) There is also the popular STI which is a version sorted by Subaru's motor sport division.
I'd better leave that to someone who's actually got one or I'll get slated if the details are wrong, but I think bigger turbo, bigger intercooler, different ecu, different suspension. The engine is meant to be more robust - a better base for tuning up.
