My nephew took me out in his STI type UK, obsidian black, looks awesome. One thing put me off the vehicle: everytime he accelerated out of a corner and hit an uneven surface there was a metallic chatter from what seemed like where the steering column joins to the floor. He hadn't noticed it but I took a drive and heard it even louder, it depended on the road wheel angle and the number of mid corner bumps to make it happen. I told him to take it to the dealer as my MY02 WRX wagon does not do this. Any ideas guys?

My nephew is unfazed by it but I am concerned, what may be causing it? Any other STI owners got this?

mine has done this from new too, it comes and goes on mine, and subru never fixed it even thou it was in a few times

I can't understand why they haven't fixed it on the new models. Apparently the MY06 in EVO last month did exactly the same thing. It sounds like the steering is coming loose
