Default UK Classic PPP question

Some help required.

I'm helping a friend sell his 1998 UK 2000 Turbo and we're not too sure whether it has PPP.

On a rolling road it came up with 250BHP, the only 'performance' mods are a decat exhaust system and a green panel filter, do people reckon it also has PPP to show 250BHP? Or another way of asking the question is what was the standard BHP that a classic of this age came with?

He was told when he bought it that it was PPP'd but Red Line Racing reckon it hasn't been PPP'd - what's everyone's thoughts?

Cheers peeps.

Have a look at the ecu in the passenger footwell. If it is a prodrive ecu it will be pink with Sti if I remember correct. If not it will be a brown AE801.

was it ever put on rr?

if it is ppp'd it will be 240bhp, due to all ppp uk turbos kicking that out.

o another thing is, if it is ppp'd it should have a certificate from prodrive saying so, no cert assume no ppp

if your having other mods done then i wouldn't worry about ppp, get a full decat and custom tech 3 remap and you'll get better performance.

the ppp is an off the shelf package, sports cats, pannel filter and prodrive generic remap, hence all ppp cars have 240bhp, give or take a couple

I have (had) the same car - a MY98 UK with no PPP.

Officially a MY98 UK turbo is 208bhp. But its more like 235bhp in the real world. When my MY98 had a decat downpipe and green panel air filter it reached 246bhp on the rollers. Given yours is a full decat then 250bhp sounds about right.

I would say the decat and air filter are your only mods (ie, no PPP). The Prodrive kit would be recognisable by having an tailpipe with Prodrive written on it and also a blue throttle body to intercooler hose.

You won't be able to get a TEK3 remap on the standard UK MY98 ECU. Only possible on MY99+

PPP = Prodrive Performance Pack.

Prodrive have historically prepared the Subaru World Rally cars and in the UK have put their name to a number of performance modifications bundled as the Prodrive Performance Pack. The PPP has then been sold by Subaru dealers very much like any other optional accessory. And more importantly left the warranty intact.

The pack has not really changed much though the years with each new car. The pack is basically a new ECU mapping, exhaust tailpipe and some upgraded hose(s) in the engine. Not sure if there is anything else?

I think on a MY97 it meant power going from 208bhp to 245bhp (but these numbers in hindsight are "conservatively estimated"). And I think now on the later models PPP applied to a WRX gives 260bhp and applied to an STi gives 300bhp. Someone will say if I'm wrong on these figures.

Should see a bit more than that?

Mine produced 273/273:

MY00
Ninja Sports Cat downpipe
JR Panel filter
Magnex cat-back
Tek 3 @ Powerstation.

Bioforger with same mods nearly identical figures also.

Lots of factors to take into account though, rolling road used being a big one, temperatures etc.

varies from car to car, lowest i know of only hit 245bhp even with decat pannel filter and remap, the exact map was put on another car and made 255bhp with out even custom tweeks, just the way it goes.

highest on a standard td04 turbo, with a front mount, i know of is about 300bhp ish

Hi, slight hijack. Had the Scoob since March. It has a Green cotton panel filter and non standard stainless exhaust. Can I assume the car has been remapped to have the car run well with these mods as it runs well but not sure if it been remapped.

Are the scooby ECU's self learning or does the car cope with breather mods without a remap?

Ta Rob.

I think they will cope with these mods without a re-map but obivously they will work a lot better with one, but i wouldnt assume it has been re-mapped !

I have 99 plate with PPP - it is decatted and the prodrive exhaust has been replaced with a HKS. I have also a bleed valve & sti filter. Car runs between 280 - 295bhp depending on weather conditions & between 285 - 300 Ib/ft torque at Prosports Rolling Road. The car has not been remapped just standard STi/Prodrive ECU.

If it has down pipe decat and full decat exhaust as well then I recon it is not PPP , as 250bhp I recon is possible. Depending on where it was RR, as can be way out at certain places.
