again, my mate on the left, toshi arai in the distance
just a teaser, iv got more pics, including some crazy pics of me at the afterparty, with toshi arai who came 1st in the above rally, with my mate in 3rd place
Isn't that the group N car as opposed to the full fat WRC car..?
nope, its the full on wrc car, first one ever to be driven in competition.
toshi arai had to leave the hotel this morning at 5am cos hes off to sweden for the wrc there, where the car shall be participating.

Looks like the Group N STI to me. I don't think the MY08 WRC car will be used until later on in the season.

Lightweight. Nothin' but a peanut.
Doesn't appear to have a bonnet scoop either. I know that one isn't required on the WRC due to FMIC but they always have in the past to keep the link to the road version.
Well
I didn't like the 3-dr Seirra Cosworth, the Ford Focus when they first came out, and the new Scoob....not sure....guess it'll grow on me...the other pair did.
It does look very Marks & Sparks retail park-ish though, plenty of shopping space in the boot
Dave Richards when interviewed on TV at both Autosport International and Monte Carlo WRC said that the new WRC car wouldn't be ready until Easter at the earliest. Grp N car is out now and was at Autosport show with mechanics doing a 'rebuild' for the public at the show. On WRC he also said we are thin on the ground here in Monte as so much development is currently taking place with new car and has been for last 12 months. Virtually everything is new and not carried over from hawkeye.
There's only 1 WRC car been built so far, the 2nd is due the middle of this month.
The WRC has similar carbon mirrors to the hawkeye, and it does not have a bonnet scoop. Rear spoiler doesn't come out from the top of the rear window like the STi but up from the base of the rear screen. Wheel arches are a little larger but much more rounded.
The Autosportif Group N car that was on display at the Autosport Show on the Prodrive stand, has already been in competition last month.
It won the first round of the Middle East Rally Championship, beating a Hawkeye Impreza by 3 minutes.
So goes better than it looks.
from what I was told, ok maybe not wrc, but at least the first new shape impreza sti to be used in competition, and surely a huge influence and a base for the upcoming wrc car. Either way, group n or wrc, its an amazing car.
Good luck to Toshi Arai in the upcoming swedish rally.
