it's on it's way people along with an sti called the sti.s which will have the 320bhp but the 400 version will be made to order with a handbuilt engine by prodrive and will cost around £40k

If the PPP equivalent is 'only' 320bhp, that's a bit tame. And for 400bhp, £40K is steep, especially when Litchfield's Type 25 comes with a Cosworth engine and other handling goodies plus a nice round 440bhp.

you do get some extras as well but i can't remember what they are!

£40k puts it into RS4 territory and I know which I would rather have.

Imprezas should never break £30k IMHO. That is their point.

Unfortunatly my car has broke the £30k band , but I bet there is more older cars that have broken my cost due to using RCM :D:D

I know it's only pub bragging numbers but I hope the PPP kit for the STI gives more than 320 :)

Unfortunately not, it is confirmed at 320ps however I beleive they have tweaked the suspension on the specced up model thats coming shortly.

The 380ps model that Prodrive are doing thats coming later in the year will have a host of goodies, one of them being a body kit! it will be 40K though.

40k is bloody steep for 400bhp.

I agree, buy the new STi and then spend the 15K buying and modding a Spec C for the weekend, probably end up quicker than the new 400bhp one too.

Can't see them selling many at £40k.

I think they're looking at the Evo X FQ360 at £37,995, and thinking that people would pay another £2k for a 400bhp Scooby.

Sadly due to the looks of the new Impreza, I can only see a few die hard Impreza fans with more money than sense buying a £40k Subaru.

For £40k you have a host of second hand car, both nearly new and some others slightly older.

RS4's, M3's, and a host of 911's. All a better propersition's than a £40k Impreza that'll lose money very very quickly.

but this is a brand new car not second hand or nearly new

My point being, if I had £40k to buy a car what would I prefer?

A second hand 911 C4S
Audi RS4
BMW M3

all have lost there initial depreciation and due to the type of car they are will alway return good residuals for many more years.

Or do I buy a £40k Impreza that isn't as well made as the others, isn't anywhere near as pretty as the others, and dur to it's looks will lose more % of it's value in one years than any of the others will lose in over 3.

Same reson I would buy a £38k Evo either.

I have to agree with you there although the car would be "Branded" Prodrive. And branding is an important consideration in todays market ;)

I do rate "branding" but also consider VFM. Prodrive does equates to UK Quality but Type20/25 equates to Performance and quality. Weighing up both and VFM, I bought a Type 20 over a RB320

I'm not single minded thought "If" I were in the market for a MY08 400bhp Scooby a Type 25 wouldn't be a "Rubber stamped" job done. Although the "Brand" is tried and tested formula and highly respected in motoring circles. I did like Prodrives work on the RB320 but would have prefered a tads better performance for the Price. IMHO

Your right, I've always wanted a Ferrari, I'd have to go older but quite a few about £40K but realistically an Audi RS4 would be care of choice.

IMHO

Tony

PS nice to see Prodrive going past the 5% increase in power stakes. shame "PPP's" werent available like USA Stages 1,2 & 3 a consumer based choice

I remember that episode on Top Gear... Clarkson puking!! Lol.. Was an awesome piece of kit!!

Agree with the others, £40k is way too much for an Impreza. Regardless of power output..
