Does an 01 Impreza HAVE to be run on super unleaded or can it be remapped to run on 95 ron unleaded? I'm desperate to buy an impreza but cannot get access to super unleaded.

Also, what is the bhp for a standard 01 wrx?

Appreciate advice,

Cheers,
Justin

Can run on 95RON without a remap.

Power = 215PS = 212bhp

ECU will retard the timing to take account of the fuel so it will be safe enough although it really is a stop gap measure. If you want it to run really well then yes it can be mapped to run on 95 but you could also have a switchable 95/99 map done for when you do have good fuel...

When i had mine done at Andy f's he had a car in that the owner was taking abroad and he was having it mapped down to 95. They were hopeful of 'only' 400bhp so can take big power too!

it's OK to use 95 in a standard WRX bugeye if driven conservatively, and I have did so over several weeks but whilst doing so did not drive the car hard or accelerate hard (kept revs under 2500RPM for 99% of time - despite this overall average MPG was only fractionally better by 1-2MPG (28-30MPG). I've gone back to V-Power because I feel more confident at boost levels and that the CEL is less likely to flash - also the extra cost per litre seems to be balanced out by slightly better MPG - still achieve 28-32MPG despite using power more. So on balance, I say run on VPower or Tesco 99.

A standard UK car will run fine on 95RON.

This is totally true :D but they will run better on a higher octane fuel like tesco 99 or shell v power ;)
