Default Stainless brake lines

How good are these ? Just had to brake hard and mine have split ! Looks like they have come away from the union that connects to the chassis the bloody thing has rusted away from the braided line ? Is this just bad luck and should replace like for like or just get a pair of rubber for both sides ? Sorry for going on just bit mad after nearly going into a wall ! Thanks jon
