Default ** £15 track day camera!! ** Cheap Ultra Small Camera - probs interest all!

hi guys found this on another forum, thought it'd interest you guys, ive just bought one. should be good for weekend drives/meets/trackdays.

I know it's not going to set the world alight and you get what you pay for and all that but it's worth a shot for only £15 delivered. It's basically a copy of the Muvi cameras which sell for about £50

DVR Sports Voice Recorder Video Camera Spy Cam Mini DV on eBay (end time 04-Feb-10 11:08:21 GMT)

or £17 buy it now (search his other items)

One of the guys that has already got his has tried it out and the vids from it are below

day
YouTube - Audi A4 with Mini Dv

night
YouTube - Audi A4 night

forgetting about the price for a minute i would be happy if i can get the same quality in the daytime vid from a £50-100 camera let alone a £15 one

anyway i've just ordered one to give it a shot (looking to use it on trackdays) but i'll get a video up when i've tried it out if anyones interested.

You'll need to get a micro SD card for it and you can get an 8gb 6 speed card for between £10-15 so it's not bad for £30max all in

Note. everyone who has tried it has mentioned that you cant skimp out on the sd card and must get a class 6 one so it is quick and you'll get a better recording with sound - link below to the one i have bought

PEAK 8GB MICRO SDHC + SD ADAPTER CLASS 6 RETAIL | Ginger6 Wolverhampton West Midlands UK

cheers

p.s. i think it'll be awesome cable tied to the grill or something

look at the size - only 5.5cm long !

also note, it is not waterproof!! so only mount outside when its dry. otherwise behind rear view mirror would be good.

battery life is 2 hours! so will run out before your 8 gig card is full.

and roughly 40mins recording to 1 gig to give you an idea of what 8 gig card will give you!

Eddy

lol yeah ive got a proper £150 trackday camera.. but for £30 tops here you cant go wrong for just clowning about and not worrying if it breaks etc.

loads of people praising it on the other forums as long as u have the class 6 sd card and a good mounting position.

just ordered one gonna give it a go. My internal camers are fine, but i might strap this to get some suspension in action or exhaust cam shots as for 15 quid doesnt matter to much if i kill it

lets hope it works ok!

Thanks Eggy. Just order mine from ebuyer, and used your link for the micro SD! worth a punt for 30 sheets all in. Now just to find a way to secure it on grill or inside car. hmmm?

Does anyone know if it over writes when the SD is full or does it just stop??
I would like to leave it running in the cab window to capture any incident/accident for insurance purposes.

I have questioned the seller but as yet, no reply.

Whats up eggy! Hows things?
This looks like a great little device, which i'm sure some may get in trouble using in certain rooms of the house!
Tim, that cat idea sound fun, but i imagine the camera may never return!

thats strange? i dont know then

b13bat: here are the replies..

eggy - i think the unit just goes into standby mode so it just won't record if the memory cards full, you would need to wipe it everytime

Correct, it's not fancy enough to manually over-write existing data.

I use mine for the purpose mentioned by eggy790 and just plug it into my PC every morning at work (free electricity to recharge the battery ftw) and clear the files off. There's enough battery life and memory to record both ways of my journey. Difference is I cycle to work, not drive, and use it to record any idiots along my way lol.
