Thumbs down Why Do We Call Manifolds ...

Headers???

Can't our American friends call them Manifolds instead of us having to use the silly Header term??

Do we still lift the Bonnet - or do we now lift the Hood??

Come on, get a grip - wave the flag ....... MANIFOLDS!!!!!!!

You see, if you came to buy my washing machine and you found out it was actually a tumble drier ..... you would be rather pissed wouldn't you?

Things have names for a reason, so we all know what we are talking about.

Now, if we can stop calling Manifolds headers then we would all know what was being discussed!!

Ive noticed the yanks now use the word "exhaust" instead of "muffler" so maybe in about 10 years from now they might say manifold?

Without rising Trout-like to the bait.....

Aren't engines of a Vee formation quoted as having headers ? So as a Scooby motor is essentially an (extreme) V of 180 degrees isn't that a valid description.

A lump of ugly cast iron is an exhaust manifold a la Hillman Imp..... a swirling stainless steel sculpture sounds much cooler as a "set of headers".

IMHO

Bloody hell we finally agree on something.

The term 'headers' is used so much when relating to Subaru exhaust manifolds that I tend to use it as it has entered into common usage.

But I do agree I prefer to use manifolds to headers, but when in Rome..
