Default Scared of mum

... especially her reaction to when I get a scooby.

How should I erm introduce this car to her considering she will hear it a mile off? Plus she will 99% most likely won't speak to me for several months. She doesn't trust my judgement at all.

I'm almost 25 maybe it's time to give her the ?

I had this recently when I mentioned a sports bike.

She even attempted to bribe me by saying she'll put a couple of grand to a newer, safer, and more economical car.

I am 27 and havent lived at home for years...... Mum's eh? lol

..... you're a bird, well apologies! In that case fret and stress about it, I'd suggest not bothering with a scoob and instead finding yourself a nice young man that you can settle down and have ginger babies with - There are a few on here that'd do

Are they any use in the sack, or does it not matter when they drive Aston Martins?

hmm no comment, lets say I'm not complaining. The AMs anyway.

Anyway seriously guys - how do I gently let her know about the car??? She's very clued up about cars (owns a modified v6 golf) so as soon as I say 'Scoo...' she'll bite my head off. Last time I just turned up for a visit and she didn't speak to me after for 3 months. I'm just so glad I moved out years ago.

Why would they be so against the idea? Nice safe 4wd car with good brakes, plus practical etc is it just the performance element?

Definitely the performance element... she freaked out at my 100bhp ZR TD. Of course I'm going for the safe/practical element

Hopefully looking at rifleman's scooby tomorrow

God bless her, she's only being protective of the daughter she loves very much!
I have a son who's currently got an EVO IX FQ 320 (and a bit!) and a daughter who has an Alfa GTV (that she calls Mario ) They're chips off the old block, I'm proud to say! The only problem I have is the power rivalry between me and my son!
She'll get over it

Yes I'm sure... in several years' time . I think secretly she wants to make sure she has the most powerful car - always has done. The men in my family aren't interested in cars!!

so you would love a man with a scoob?

use the old 'well i was thinking about a motorbike mum' ruse works every time

you could get a £100 fiesta for when you visit and keep quiet about the scoob

hmm depends on what scoob it is

I don't like motorbikes so can't use that excuse.

Can't get another car as only got 2 allocated parking spaces!! One for the Alfa GT one for the scoob

Give her the keys when you get it!!!!
Tell her to take it for a spin.
This will then show how much of a planted feel on the road it has.
She will smile.
And then understand exactly why you bought it.
Unlike a modified heavy golf that slides like a sledge when you want to stop
And spins wheels when you want to go.

Happy days

Oh I would offer but she does the 'I'm an old woman (she's 60 this year) and i'm too old to drive cars like these" rant(almost got her a rally package for her 50th).
Mum's a pain - she's never happy with anything I do/have. lol
