Default Anyone had to have there car inspected by DVLA?

Story goes, I bought my Evo 6 from the estate of somebody who died (I know the family) but they couldnt find the V5 they think it's in a locked safe so rather than wait for it I filled in a v62 with a cheque for £25 and sent it off to dvla, I then received a letter saying all was going ahead and I should recieve the V5 soon.
They are now saying they want to do an inspection on the car and I could be waiting another 6 weeks to get the V5,not really a problem but I can't tax it until its all sorted.

Anyone else had this ? Do they come to me or will i need to take the car to them? Ive not recieved the letter about it yet they told me over the phone, seems every time I phone DVLA I get some clueless person who has no clue what's happening and just tell me to wait gor the letter!

Thanks for the reply Don.
I had actually already read that but ive also read a few treads on websites where they come to you to inspect the car.
I was hoping somone on here would have been in this situation and could give an insight on it.

Thanks Joe,
I didn't think it was a VIC check as they have not said that ,but what you have posted makes sense tbh so maybe it is?
In the mean time i phoned them again and they asked me to send a picture of the car with reg showing and chassis plate to them so im hoping they will release the V5 from the pics but as usual the person on the phone seems to know **** all!
It seems ive just got to wait for a letter or for them to reply to my email.

Did they come to you or did you take it to them?
I presume its because its been off the road and in storage since 2007 so they think there is something dodgy about it?

With it being an import and missing a few years it probably is.

No not the one I had and built. I sold it to a man and his wife went to the shop and came back and threw the keys at him and said either that goes or I do it scared the life out of her it was 651 horses but I hated it. It was then sold to a bad child and I ended up with the RUC at the door. But there's the North and the South so we won't know
Plus I imported mine direct.

Recieved the V5 today ,they didn't inspect the car in the end I just had to send them a few pictures of the car and chassis number.

I replaced the cam belt ,serviced it got the wheels powder coated, fitted 4 new tyres and got the mot done.
Ive got the fuel tank out at the minute to fit a new fuel pump and give the inside of the tank a bit of a flush out it was a bit rusty where its been sat with fuel in the tank for so long.

Also had the injectors cleaned and tested, hopefully find some time this weekend to put it back together!
