Semantics I know but there is a difference. This is how it was explained to me be a chemist at an Oil Refinery (who, let's face it
should
know
);
Inflammable means that a substance will ignite at atmospheric pressure when heat only is applied, no ignition source is needed.
Flammable means that a substance needs either an ignition source, a pressure increase, or both.
Non-Flammable means that to all intents and purposes a substance wont burn even if you apply heat, pressure and an ignition source.
is engine oil flammable or inflammable??
