they never sound as good

I went back from tubular to harveys ported headers and upipe sounds proper, the tubular sound good at higher revs.
Its a compromise

No point in changing the headers on your WRX but the uppipe will get rid of the restrictive cat in the uppipe. You will need to put a 2.2k resistor across the EGT sensor wiring to fool the ECU into thinking the sensor is still fitted and you really also need a remap if you remove the catted uppipe. Good upgrade for little money. This along with a sports cat downpipe and 3rd cat delete pipe and a remap will change the car more than you will think

You could remove your own headers and get them ported. Stick an aftermarket decat uppipe on and a remap as has been suggested. The mapper will take care of your EGT light by switching off the corresponding DTC through the remap so there will be no need for resistors.

Yes the uppipe or headers from the 2005 STi car will fit a bugeye no probs
