playing Devils advocate here for a sec...
Boro's side states you bought a car, were happy with said car at purchase but didn't have the right funds to pay in full. A gentlemans agreement was met with regards the outstanding ££ and you "promised" to pay him back asap. You didn't and argued that the car had faults which you didn't see when looking around it. Boro also said your p/x car had faults.
So in a way he could have surely asked YOU for more money (under the same basis you withheld owed and agreed money beforehand).
Having read your side of the story on the other thread... I'm amazed that you even drove the car away. It doesn't take an engineers report to notice some of them supposed issues fella!. Thats my interpretation of the situation as an outsider.
