Default Big end? 1993 WRX

I know this has been asked a million times before but this seems strange!!

I have only owned it a few weeks and when i bought it i heard start from cold (been sat a week) and no noises at all

however after a 2 weeks i noticed a slight tapping sound from the engine, (nothing like any of the vids i heard posted!!)

Sounds just like a hydraulic lifter (tinny) but it is defo from the centre of the engine (at the back below the turbo) and it only does it at tickover when the engine is fully warmed up, raise the revs slighly and it goes

Thoughts anyone?

Have you checked the exhaust heat shields? One of mine rattles a bit.

A big end is more likely to be heard when revving or on overrun at about 2-3k. It can be hard to identify the source of sounds so possibly it's coming from a different area. For peace of mind you could remove your oil filter and inspect the oil in it for bearing particles but based on your description I think your big end is fine.
