What exactly is a chassis fan?

Chassis fan: a fan mounted in/on the chassis of the PC. That is, mounted on the "box" itself. Normally a lot larger diameter than fans on the CPU or graphics card. The larger it is the slower it can spin and move the same amount of air. The slower it spins the quieter it is. All other things being equal of course ....

To clarify, Lisa hasn't got a clue about computers, she knows more about Subaru's, and I'm not much better.
The only fan in my PC is the one above the CPU heatsink, obviously there should be a fan in the PSU.

No idea mate, only thing on the front of the case is TrendSonic. Means nothing to us.
The Mobo is, I think, quite an old design - how would I power an additional fan?
This is the MoBo fitted,

Hi there
you can power fan via MOLEX 4pin if you have free one,if not you can buy extension.
But have look if you can mount Fan on side window

My case has 6 fans It was like a hairdryer when I first built it. Now whisper quiet thanks to a T-balancer controller (fully automatic...and mappable ).
If you find the new fan is too noisy at 12volts, it can be connected to a Molex connector between the +5v (red) and +12v (yellow) rails to get 7 volts, which usually is plenty enough to keep things cool, whilst massively reducing noise.
Some motherboards have fans speed contriol for case fans on the actual board itself, but not always.
I hate noisy computers.

They go from 40mm through 60/80/90/100/120/140/etc.
Even a new case may not have more than one fan, but it may not need more than that, two is good IMHO, one to feed cold air in, and one to extract hot air out !

P.S, QuietPC have loads of nice kit, and they also have some useful FAQ's on the site IIRC

Sorted.
120mm fan fitted to the side panel, and an 80mm fan on the back.
They both seem to be working and only cost £10 for the pair.
As it turns out, the big one seems to be working, but the little one isn't. Any ideas how to power the smaller fan?
