Default How to diagnose if my up pipe is "leaking" ?

Hi. I've change headers and up pipe on my car yesterday. Doing that, one of the up pipe studs has snapped and onother one is missing. So, from 5 studs only 3 are tightened. How can I say if there is a leak? Can I leave it like that ?
Pictures as follows:

my up pipe is leaking too. Took the car to Carnetix in Melton Mowbray where I live to get them to check my MAF etc on Thursday and Glenn spotted it.

Basically, if its leaking then the o2 sensor wont be getting the full hit and will be adjusting the mixture. He said my reading was only 0.7 out and wasnt too much of a worry.

We went for a drive with his gizmo plugged in the diagnostic socket and said that it was running slightly rich.

If it sounds like its blowing then i'd get it checked, or better still, swapped.

Happened to me once and caused a lumpy idle (stalling) when engine was warm. Thought it was a MAF or lambda sensor failure until found out it was a cracked up-pipe.

Cheers guys.
It's definitely NOT crack in the up pipe, because the one I fitted is nearly new. It's Harvey Smith 3 bolt one. I was wondering if it will leak because those two missing studs. So, if there is a leak, it will Not hold the boost, right ?

If you have a leaking uppipe you will feel the hot gas coming from the flange. Start the engine from cold, get your hand down to the flange and feel for the leak.
Usually you can hear it anyway.
Any leak results in a loss of boost.
e-mail your address to harveysmith1@btopenworld.com and I will post a couple of studs today.

If there is a leak mate you'll have hot exhaust gasses pouring into your engine bay which is never a good thing. I'd always recommend you replace broken studs.

I just did what Harvey said. By putting a hand on a flange I couldn't feel any gasses blowing, so hopefully there's NO leak. I'm going to rolling road in two weeks time so I'll know for sure.

It would be wise to get to the bottom of any leaks before the RR run or it is wasted.
Check the hot side from the turbo and the cold side from the intercooler. Check the intercooler itself then check the joints from the cylinder head to headers and each header to turbo joint.
Usually you can hear leaks (even with my damaged hearing this is possible)
Get someone local who knows Subarus, possibly a fellow owner to have a listen.
