Poor old Saviola: he's been banded about by Real pretty much since they took him on a free. I can't believe he's still 27. Real must think he's awful: he's played just 28 games (of which a mere 16 were league appearances, and often only as substitute) and scored a paltry 5 goals in his 2 years at the club!
Hardly the record of a star import is it? Letting Alonso go in the other direction would be pi$$-poor for the Premiership
I bet even Rushden & Diamonds have turned him down at some point.
I guess Saviola's best position would be called "Makeweight"!
We made 68 million on him, when did Arsenal last do that kind of business?
Its funny because Ferguson said he wouldn't sell Madrid a virus. It's funny because the the two faced lieing tw4t called Ronaldo said he was staying at Utd so all this boll0cks from last summer of him staying was indeed boll0cks and what happened was that the transfer was agreed but to be a year later as per this pre contract agreement.
Ronaldo wanted to go and so he has done despite Ferguson's claims for the last year.
Footballer in says one thing does another shocker! The fact is the fans demand these soundbites from players, managers etc so they give them. I'm sure what goes on behind the scenes is very different. They do owe loyalty to a degree to the club, fans, manager but you also have to be realist and see that it's our passion but to them it's their job. So just as you way want to leave your company you'll very rarely come out and say so until you have a deal in place to move to another job. It's not too different for these players. Thankfully some are better than that.
I don't dispute that at all. Their are still lies all over the place about Henry leaving Arsenal. Henry says he was sold. Wenger says Henry wanted to leave to go to Barcelona to win trophies and he did everything he could to persuade him to stay. I belive Wenger over Henry and believe he lied and still does lie to the fans about what happened. He wanted to go and so Arsenal had to let him go. I wish he'd just own up and say that though instead of saying Arsenal instigated it.

Not wishing to join in this petty argument, but be fair Keane was never given a go at Anfield, how many consecutive games did he start ? and imo he was played out of position from the role he made his own at Spurs. Shit Management.
And we're back to Benitez

I agree keane was never given a fair crack of the whip.
However i don't think RB had total control over the transfer.
I think that Parry done the deal and RB dug in his heels and never played Keane because of his rift with fozzie bear er? Rick Parry who i deem to be a muppet.
There was also the fact that Gerrard was playing so well just behind Torres.
I rate Keane highly, his passion, desire and professionalism could not be doubted.
I was sorry to see him leave.
Rafa is guilty sometimes of letting his personality obstruct rationality and logic, i agree that is bad management. However under him Liverpool have slowly improved.
I was never sure RB could manage Liverpool to win the title, after last season though i have changed my mind.
I think Fergie knows that too.

You're both right I totally forgot about RP
Chris makes a valid point about personality clashes, but now RP's gone there should be no more of that, and irrespective of whether he was trying to make a point, you dont f*ck about like that just to make a point you should always have the best interest of the team at heart, I think some of that f*cking about with the team cost LFC a genuine pop at the title.
SAF is no mug he will know exactly who will be pushing his team hard next year.
Only 8 weeks to go

whats keane got to do with the summer transfer thread, is he moving again?
keane had more than a fair go, torres was injured for a lot of the time before he was sold, he did sweet FA, the preston match comes to mind when he had at least 3 chances to score and he tried too hard or tried to be too clever. some players find their own level and his is clearly at spurs.
