Likewise, Lyon have opened the door, lets just pay the money and stop fannying about as we tend to do in these situations, after all look at his strike record, Garry Birtles he aint !

“Benzema is nearly gone to Old Trafford,” Pjanic, the midfield player, said. “The English club are willing to pay close to €45 million [about £38 million].”
Could this be the Thursday cough and bollox ?

they've shown this Summer they're far and away the biggest club on the planet.
Quite possibly, they have the best TV deal on the planet, without it they'd be down Lidl with Rafa and his crumpled tenner.
I always found it strange that only RM Barca and one other (Athletico I think) are allowed to control their TV rights globally, but hey it is Spain after all.....

Just looked at his strike record and it's not as high as people are making out 66 goals in 149 appearances (Goal Every 2.25 Games) overall.
Fair enough 54 in his last 99 games is a better rate (Goal Every 1.83), but in the french league I'd expect better than that from a player of his level.
Even Cisse managed a goal every 1.84 games over a longer period for an inferior team and he's nowhere near the 'Supposed' class of Benzema....
check out his record in the champs league. It's decent. Still that's not the point. He's a raw tallent but he looks to have all the required attributes to be very very good.
I watch a lot of spanish football and having seen Madrid a fair bit last season the problem they had was defending not attacking!
They now have, Robben, Van Der Vaart, Sneijder, Raul, Huntelaar, Van Nistleroy, Heguin, Kaka, Benzema and Ronaldo to choose from as attackers
Not much in the way of defence, yet.....

Just looked at their squad on wiki, I know Real are one of those sides that you shouldn't turn down - but some of those players (Most of the Dutch ones) must have realised they'd never establish themselves as the mainstays even more so now the 'Big Guns' are arriving.
Yep they've signed him plus Ribery has requested to leave to Bayern to go to Real. Mean time us Gooners have been busy, we've renewed Wilshire's and Ramsey's contracts
