Default Michael Vaughan retires

The best England captain in my lifetime imo

Thanks for the memories Vaughanie, the highlight being 2005 Ashes series and the way he showed Mr Ponting how it was done

When you look back at that Aussie team they beat it shows what a huge achievement it was. Shame they got their arses handed to them on a plate down there.

I feel a bit sad really, it's all ended on a bit if a low rather than retiring on a high.

Great captain, still have a soft spot for Nasser but Vaughanie won the Ashes

You're always going to love Nasser being an Essex man

But your point is valid. I always felt Nasser started the revolution and he was partly responsible for modernising the England set up along with a few others, and Vaughan embraced this and carried on the good work.

Yes it does seem a little low key, it all went down hill very quickly and seems he's not being given the respect he deserves, The ECB should get him down to Cardiff next week and give him a proper send off, a small announcement thanking him and the a walk round the pitch at Sophia Gardens to a standing ovation should do it. But the ECB dont do things like that do they.

most sad thing about it all is that he has to do a press conference to end his career - why? just embarrassing.
