Hope this helps. mine went straight in no problem but my fan is mounted on the right hand side as i said. only problem i have is that the top mount don't sit as flat as they did but they tighten up fine and i've had no problems. when filling i think it holds just over 8 litres.
My classic has 2 fans,I just fitted the one fan to take a photo to show the problem.

Also, the rad doesn't fit into the bottom mounting holes correctly and ends up sitting backwards towards the engine. You would have to force it towards the slam panel to be able to fit the top mounting brackets and that's not good.

Also, the rad fouls the fuel canister on the left hand side of the engine bay.

Ed@Japspeed has offered to look into this for me so hopefully we can sort this out.

Yep will do

One thing I have just noticed is the shape of the new rad compared to the original one. If you look in the photo below you can see the original rad goes narrower at the sides towards the bottom but the new one doesn't. That's where the new one fouls on the car and stops it from sitting forward correctly in my opinion.

Where does it actually foul. If this rad is designed correctly for the classic it should fit with two fans

If you look at the photos I posted you can see that the left fan is fouling the power steering pump, the pulley has been removed but you can see compared the my photo of the standard rad how much difference there is.

It also fouls at the bottom on the left and right sides where in my opinion it is too wide, this makes it sit towards the engine slightly and away from the slam panel at the top.

Cheers for that mate Theres no way you would be able to fit the second fan on there,so maybe it fits with just one fan but that isn't a direct fit then is it !

Did yours sit towards the slam panel at the top easily or did you have to force it forwards to be able to fit the top brackets ?

Also, did you manage to fit the rubbers for the top brackets from the old rad into the new one as mine were a very tight fit, they kept popping back out ?

mine rad just sat there when i dropped it in. the top rubbers are a bit tight i just tightened the clamps up and it holds it fine. they are slightly raised but doesn't touch the bonnet at all.

Your car hasn't had a little knock on the front end has it and pushed it back a bit. mine does touch at the bottom looking at it but it's about 5mm away at the top.

See mine doesn't even sit right,it doesn't sit in the holes at the bottom correctly,it sits sort of on top of them which makes it tilt backwards towards the engine. I would have to really force it forwards towards the slam panel to make it fit and that can't be right surely ?

No not really mate,thanks anyway.

I might have another go at fitting the rad and just the one fan,see how that works out. Has anyone else managed to fit one with 2 fans or only with 1 ?

So it looks like these rads are not standard fit and may need aftermarket slimlines fans which is not what we were told at the start of this group buy!!!

Let us know how you get on with your mates rad please mate.

Hi

Sorry if you feel like you have been mislead but the Radiator its self is designed as a direct fit into the engine bay. As some cars run 2 fans and some run one, with the thickness of the new radiators it may cause problems with the second fan from what you have said. However as we have sold several hundred of these and every one we have spoken to have had them running fine i am guessing they either run them only with one fan or have managed to get them in without fouling the fan. These radiators do offer much lower running temps on there own even on hard driving.

As i said before if you try the radiator and it doesnt fit then just give us a call and you can return it.

We must of sold about 30 Radiators in this group buy alone so has any one fitted this with 2 fans that could post up some pictures to show fitment?

340-WRX. Hi mate looking at your second pic is that the aircon radiator sitting between your main rad and the slam panel
If it is then it is in the wrong place if not it looks like there is something mounted between the radiator and the slam panel
