Talking SCOOBYCLINICS NEW GEARKIT LAUNCHED, LITERALLY

Hi,

we have been developing a new helical gearkit with UK gear manufacturers Elite transmissions. Fed up of wrecking other gearkits on the market we decided it was time the consumer had a choice.

At the 30 to 130 we managed just two runs both from rolling starts then wrecked our PPG gearbox.

This weekend same car now fitted with our new gearkit went to the Pod for testing, 18 launch's with launch control , a 0 to 60 time of 2.68 seconds and a 1/4 mile in 10.16 facing a head wind of 15 mph +

Fair old test we believe and the box is absolutely perfect.

Priced to sell we are doing an introductory offer of just £2295.00 with an uprated 5th for £442.00 extra, if you require one.

Made in Britain

All prices + vat

More details to follow.

Cheers
Kev

Hi,

testing so far at 580bhp / 580ftlbs, so cannot rate them higher at the moment

We will continue pushing the kit to find its limit

Hi,

as this is a motor sport product there is no warranty given or implied.

We offer the same warranty as all the other more expensive gearkits on the market

If there was a problem with a kit soon after being fitted we would want the box back complete for analysis, this would be in case a fix needs implementing across the board on other kits out in the market place.

If we find there is a problem with the manufacture of the kit or one of its components, i.e. out of tolerance or not as the drawings dictate then the box will be repaired at our cost

If we find its a build issue or the bedding in procedure has not been carried out properly (this will be evident on the syncros) then we would advise the cost to rectify.

A formal version of the above will be on our web site soon.

Cheers
Kev

Hi,

we are offering installation at just £650.00 + vat, this includes removing your gearbox, fitting the kit then re fitting it back in the car, any new syncro's required would be extra.

For now we are only doing the helical as they are quieter, just humming along pleasantly reminding you just whats in your box, they are also stronger with 3 teeth in mesh at all times

We wont be doing a 6 speed version, they are very strong to start with, take Clive fulchers billet powered car, 622 bhp on a standard 6 speeder, he won the 30 to 130 a few weeks ago, gearbox still intact

Thanks for showing an interest in this new product.

cheers

I think your onto a winner with this, this is the missing link between someone who requires a stronger box than PPG but dosent want the extra weight of the 6 speed

Hi,

thats a nice take on it

Not only that the 6 speeders are becoming thin on the ground, and as demand grows the price escalates.

Hello All

We are the manufacturers of this kit so I thought I would join the forum to help answer any tech queries.

As Kev mentioned, we have developed this kit together to offer a reliable, well priced kit that is stronger than our competitor’s current offering.

So you know our background, Elite specialize in motorsport transmissions from fully sequential race boxes to gear kits, drive shafts and prop shafts. We have been in business for over 25 years formally as Staffs Silent Gears then changed to Elite in 2000.

The ratios of this kit are as follows:

1st 12:38 - 3.166
2nd 15:28 - 1.866
3rd 19:25 - 1.316
4th 22:21 - 0.955
Optional up rated 5th 30:22 - 0.733

What we have done with 5th is to maintain the 0.733 ratio but achieve it with a lower tooth count, this in turn means bigger teeth which provide more mesh and strength through the whole gear.

The material we machine this, and all our other kits from is around 30% stronger than the majority of our competitor’s kits. Surface hardness will be similar, around 60-65 Rockwell, but our internally developed material has a higher core strength without being brittle.

I will try and check this thread daily and respond to any further questions you will have, if you want to email me a query please feel free to – rob@eliteracingtransmissions.com
To clarify this synchro kit is available through Scooby Clinic direct only so please do NOT contact me for sales of this kit.
Any other products you are interested in such as Subaru 5/6 speed dog kits or sequential box can also be purchased from Scooby Clinic direct.

Thanks & Regards

Rob Swift

Had a good look at this kit the other week, have to say it's beautifully made Looking forward to testing it in a few weeks, having got through 3 PPG/PAR gearkits in a the space of half a year, if anyone's going to test it, it's me!

Hi,

we would charge £350.00 labour as an introductory offer

Any syncro's or bearings required would be on advised and charged on top.

Cheers

Hi,

if you are not intending to go higher than 450ftlbs then the current 4XL250 box would be right for your car, in stock they are £7000.00 + vat.

Standard rally ratio's as follows.........

3.9 CWP
2.917
2.143
1.667
1.353

1.052

Other ratio's available to suit you.

The new 4XL350 with uprated crown wheel, pinion, side plates & diff will be fully tested by the end of May, price will be £8000.00 + vat, rated to 6-700 ftlb's

Hi,

As standard the gearbox does not come with paddel shift or any gear linkage, some customers fabricate their own linkage so they can fit it up by the steering wheel or wherever they prefere.

The 250 box linkage comes as a mounting plate gear stick and **** at £529.99, an additional hole in the tunnel is required for the selection rod to run through.

An alternative paddle shift system would be extra, we recommend the Geartronics closed loop system.

http://www.geartronics.co.uk/closedloop.htm

Gearbox's come ready to accept paddle shift

Hi,

This weekend we decided to test the gearkit under race conditions, our "Pink Car" had a wash, a map tweak and a geometry set up, then off it went to Oulton Park to race in Time attack.

Gearkit behaved perfectly, with our driver, Kev Horsly, reporting no snicking and very slick gear changes.

Not a bad result either, 2nd place to a Skyline by just 0.4 of a second.

Cheers

480/500 for the majority of the day and 520/540 in the final

And as Kev said, the gearkit was faultless all day, without doubt the best one i've ever used I'll put a full report of the day in my project thread soon...

Hi,

Andy Harvey won the "A" class, which is the fastest class, in his scoobyclinic tuned and built Impreza with 3 rounds to spare, no one could get near him.

He still did the rounds though, just to make sure.

cheers
